Hideo Itami finishes up with WWE following 205 Live taping, Issues brief statement online

Hideo Itami

Fightful and PWInsider are reporting that Hideo Itami recently requested his release from WWE and it appears the company will be granting it.

Itami lost to Akira Tozawa in the main event of last night’s 205 Live episode that aired on the WWE Network, just days after taking part in another losing effort during the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show taking part in a Fatal Four Way for the Cruiserweight title.

Itami, 37, recently changed his Twitter handle back to his original KENTA name and issued a very brief statement on Tuesday evening.

Itami was called up to be part of the main roster in late 2017 to be part of the 205 Live roster and had been featured prior as part of the Cruiserweight division.

He missed significant time with WWE after suffering a shoulder injury during his time in NXT, keeping him out of action from May of 2015 through June of 2016.

The report by Fightful stated Itami was “unsatisfied creatively” in the company.
