Rick Bognar passes away

Rick Bognar, who is best known as the infamous fake Razor Ramon from 1996, passed away on September 20. He was 49 years old.

No cause of death was revealed, but Bognar’s brother Ken took to his Facebook to announce the death. Ken stated that the passing was sudden, unexpected, and “is tough to comprehend and will likely never sink in fully.”

Bognar was brought in by WWF in 1996 to play the Razor Ramon character alongside Glenn Jacobs (Kane) who portrayed the Diesel character after the departures of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to WCW. The gimmicks did not last long as the audience quickly turned on them.

Bognar also had turns in WAR and ECW as well, but his biggest successes came in the FMW company in Japan. Bognar was consistently in main events for the company and won the FMW World Championship.

Bognar’s full time career ended in 1999 after a neck injury while in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Bognar would occasionally wrestle after that, but became well known as a motivational speaker in his post-wrestling career.

On behalf of the staff of Wrestleview, we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rick Bognar during this difficult time.
