According to an exclusive report from Deadline, WWE Superstar John Cena along with Search Party’s Meredith Hagner and Lil Rel Howery are set to star in lead roles in a new comedy film entitiled “Vacation Friends.”
Also as per the same report, Clay Tarver, an executive producer of HBO’s “Silicon Valley” will direct the film that will be released from the newly Disney owned 20th Century FOX and Hulu Streaming Service.
This will be Tarver’s first feature that he will be directing. He co-wrote the 2001 Thriller “Joy Ride” with JJ Abrams.
Todd Garner is producing the new project under his Broken Road Productions, which also produced Cena’s most recent family comedy, “Playing with Fire.”
The project is said to have been a long time in the making as FOX had acquired the spec script from co-writing brothers Tom and Tim Mullen in a what was a near seven-figure deal back in 2014.
Cena’s other upcoming films include “Fast and Furious 9”, “The Suicide Squad” Sequel, and “Project X-Traction” opposite Jackie Chan.

Vacation Friends is about a straight-laced couple that has fun with a rowdy couple on vacation in Mexico. When they return to the States, they discover that the crazy couple they met in Mexico followed them back home.
