Luke Harper and Sin Cara released

WWE has announced the releases of Luke Harper (Jonathan Huber) and Sin Cara (Jorge Arias) on Sunday.

A brief statement was released by WWE about the releases:

“WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper) and Sin Cara. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Harper publicly announced his request for a release this past April. Harper would be inactive for the next few months before returning in September at the Clash of Champions event. Harper would go on to team with Erick Rowan against Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan in a losing effort at Hell in a Cell.

Harper’s last televised appearance with WWE was on the WWE Crown Jewel Kickoff Show as part of the 20-man Battle Royal.

Sin Cara went public with wanting to be released back in November during the European tour. Arias had stated that the opportunities for his success were no longer there for him and he would never be able to reach his full potential.

Arias made his debut for WWE as the evil Sin Cara going against the original Sin Cara. Arias would become Hunico before assuming the Sin Cara role full time after the original was released.

Cara’s last televised appearance was on the taped episode of Monday Night Raw from Manchester in a losing effort against Drew McIntyre.

Following the announcement of his release, Aria released this statement:
