There’s new information on the status of WrestleMania.
The City of Tampa, the site of WrestleMania 36, issued a tweet today stating that the event is still planned to proceed on schedule at this time. People were directed to contact WWE with any questions of a cancellation. The officials reiterated that they are monitoring the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and will work with venues as needed.
As previously reported, the City of Tampa will be meeting with the mayor on Thursday to discuss postponing or canceling major events in the area.
The World Health Organization announced today that the Coronavirus now qualifies as a global pandemic. WWE has not been told to cancel any events yet, but other major events around the country have been canceled such as Coachella and SXSW. Many sports leagues have also announced that they will be playing games in empty arenas.
WrestleMania 36 is currently scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 5.
