Tampa Bay issues statement on WrestleMania 36

The Tampa Bay Local Organizing Committee issued a statement Tuesday regarding WrestleMania 36 being canceled at Raymond James Stadium due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

You can read the statement below:

“Our community has waited 36 years to host WrestleMania and while we are saddened that this unforeseen situation has led us to today’s announcement, this is totally the right call for the security and safety of everyone involved.  A huge thank you to all our local leaders and our friends at WWE, as we collectively worked through the unprecedented fluidity of the last few weeks.  The Tampa Bay-WWE partnership has never been stronger.”

According to Ticketmaster’s website, refunds will be issued for WrestleMania 36 at the point of purchase only.  Internet and phone orders will automatically be canceled and refunded.

WWE confirmed yesterday WrestleMania will still be taking place on Sunday, April 5 at 7 p.m. ET/6 CT from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance.
