Drake Maverick releases tearful video after being released, will still compete in tournament

Drake Maverick speaks out

Shortly after it was announced that he was released by WWE amid cost cutting measures being taken in the face of COVID-19, Drake Maverick posted a video in tears talking about his feelings.

Maverick talked about getting the phone call from Mark Carrano from WWE Talent Relations. Maverick says this pandemic is affecting people’s lives and jobs. WWE will allow him to compete in the NXT Cruiserweight Title Tournament, but those will very likely be the last matches he ever has. Maverick broke down talking about the people he loves that he can’t say goodbye to. If these are the last three matches he has, the people at home will get his all. It’s not about a title. It’s about his life, feeding his family and paying his bills. If he doesn’t make an impression and win, that’s it for him.
