NXT star Kassius Ohno laid off or furloughed, Seven more NXT stars released

According to a new report by F4WOnline, Kassius Ohno (aka Chris Hero) was part of this week’s WWE layoffs or furloughs.

Ohno signed with WWE in 2011 and spent time in Florida Championship Wrestling/NXT until 2013. He left WWE in 2013 and returned to the independent scene.  He returned to NXT in 2016, recently becoming part of the NXT UK roster as both a wrestler and a trainer.

The 40-year-old Kassius Ohno has wrestled since 1998 all over the world including Combat Zone Wrestling, Ring of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling Chikara, EVOLVE, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Combat Zone Wrestling and more. 

As of this report, it is not known whether Ohno was laid off or furloughed. However, it is assumed Ohno has been laid off as his Twitter name is now WWE Alumni. He has yet to confirm publicy if he has been released or if he has only been furloughed.

WWE laid off or furloughed employees this past Wednesday due to cutbacks in the face of COVID-19, all from the WWE NXT brand.

Seven more NXT stars released

According to a new report from PWInsider, seven more NXT Superstars appear to have been released. 

The following talents appear have been removed from the WWE Performance Center website:

– Mohamed Abdelfattah aka Mohamed Fahim, an Egyptian-born talent who was signed in Jauary 2018.

– Marcos Gomes, a Brazilian talent signed in May 2019 with a background in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

– Faisal Kurdi was signed in June 2019 after a tryout in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  He had a background in Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts,

– Edgar Lopez, a Mexican talent, was signed in September 2019 after a WWE tryout in Chile.  He came from a football background.

– Hussain Aldagal, a bodybuilder from Saudi Arabia, was signed following a tryout in June 2019. 

– Yifeng, known as Rocky in NXT, was a signee from China with an acting background who had signed in September 2016.  He had been competing on NXT live events as recently as this past February.
