WWE cancels taping of next week’s Friday Night Smackdown, NXT set to air live tonight

SmackDown taping postponed

Due to the numerous delays as WWE waited for all the COVID-19 tests they administered to talent and crew on Tuesday, the company has been forced to cancel a portion of Wednesday’s television taping.

According to multiple sources, the taping of the June 26 episode of Friday Night Smackdown has been canceled. The talent were notified that they would need to come to the WWE Performance Center next Friday to tape SmackDown during the afternoon to air that night on FOX.

WWE taped Monday Night Raw, as well as episodes of 205 Live and Main Event. NXT will air live tonight from Full Sail University with next week’s episode to be taped immediately after.

It was announced on Monday that a WWE developmental talent being used as a crowd extra tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, WWE tested all talent and crew at the training and production facilities, which led to the company postponing Tuesday’s television tapings to Wednesday.
