MVP signs new WWE deal

MVP revealed on his Instagram that he has signed a new multi-year deal with WWE.

MVP, 46, first signed a deal with WWE in 2005 as was assigned to then the company’s developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling as Antonio Banks.

He then later developed the Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) gimmick, which was an arrogant, self-obsessed athlete.

MVP made his first appearance on WWE television during the August 4, 2006 SmackDown in backstage segments where he would stop conversations in order to answer his phone and admire his own jewelry.

During the September 26, 2006 episode in a video press conference it was announced on WWE’s website that MVP was signed to the largest contract in SmackDown history.

MVP was moved to Raw on the April 13, 2009 episode as part of the draft.  He was then drafted back to SmackDown in 2010, where he would stay until his release from WWE in December of that same year.

His Post-WWE appearances included New Japan Pro Wrestling, TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, and Ring of Honor.

MVP made sporadic appearances on WWE television, including Raw’s 25th Anniversary show, and as a surprise entrant in the 2020 Royal Rumble.

MVP announced on February 17, 2020 he was hired by WWE as a backstage producer, while still being an on-air talent.

During the April 20, 2020 episode of Raw, MVP lost to Apollo Crews in a Money in the Bank qualifer match.

He is currently involved the Hurt Business faction/storyline on Raw with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.

As of this report, WWE has not yet publicly announced MVP’s signing.
