Roman Reigns to defend Universal Title against Jey Uso

Roman Reigns will defend the WWE Universal Championship against his cousin Jey Uso at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view on Sunday, September 27.

Uso defeated Matt Riddle, Baron Corbin, and Sheamus in a Fatal Four-Way Number One Contender’s Match in the main event on last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Uso was not originally slated as one of the participants for the match, after Big E was attacked by Sheamus and taken out of the match. Jey pinned Riddle for the win with a splash off of the top rope.

After his big win, Uso went to Reigns backstage and told him he made their entire family proud.  Uso also told Reigns he called and texted him all week. Reigns said he has been busy. Uso then asked Reigns what the deal is with Heyman, however, Reigns told him not to worry about it, and that he has it under control. Jey then finally told Reigns that he is always there if he needs someone to watch his back.
