WWE Universal Championship to be defended on the season premiere of SmackDown

On tonight’s episode of SmackDown, WWE announced two matches for the Season Premiere of Friday Night SmackDown on October 16.

The show will feature a WWE Universal Championship match, as well as The New Day’s farewell match on SmackDown. Night One of the WWE Draft saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods moving to Raw and Big E staying on SmackDown, breaking up The New Day.

— The New Day (SmackDown Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, and Big E) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, and Sheamus

This will also be the first night the new roster of SmackDown will be all together after the conclusion of the 2020 WWE Draft this Monday on Raw.
