Predictions from the Faculty
WWE Bragging Rights 2010 Edition

Predictions by: WrestleView Columnists and Staff

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty”. This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View. This weekend we will provide our selections for WWE’s Bragging Rights, which will be held in Minneapolis, MN (home of WrestleView’s own Matt O’Brien).

The card features five matches as of the time I typed this piece. More than likely, those are the only matches we will predict.

As for the columnists, “The Dave Stephens Dynasty” is over for now! Though Josh Boutwell posted a mere 4-4 record for TNA’s Bound for Glory, his pillow talk with Dixie Carter was barely enough to become the Undisputed (or undefined) Dean of WrestleView. As usual, Dean Boutwell must be careful, because Professor Stephens has a good chance possibly at taking the Dean’s Chair away from him at this next PPV. Also, there are a few hungry challengers that want to take Dean Boutwell down as well.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on WrestleView provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case it will be Royal Rumble 2011).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “WrestleView Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings. We all thank you for your participation.

Before I show the class our selections, here are the rankings as of TNA’s Bound for Glory.

Current Standings

2010-2011 Season (TNA’s Bound for Glory 2010)

1) Josh Boutwell (Viva La Raza and TNA Recapper)……………….77-44 (4-4)
2) David Stephens (That’s a Wrap and RAW Recapper)………….76-45 (3-5)
3) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings)……………………………………71-50 (4-4)
4) Students of the Week (The Best from Prev. PPV)………………71-50 (3-5)*
5) Daniel Browne (For Queen and Country)……………………………..69-52 (4-4)
6) WrestleView Students (The Loyal Readers)………………………..69-52 (4-4)
7) Matt O’Brien (Notes From The Nosebleeds)…………………………68-53 (2-6)
8) Anthony Valvo (From the Desk of Mr. V)…………………………….68-53 (4-4)
9) Jeff Springer (WWE Superstars Recapper)……………………………61-41 (5-3)
10) Mike Tedesco (Smackdown and NXT Recapper)…………………53-37 (NR)
11) Doug Lackey (Reality From Ringside)…………………………………..52-42 (NR)
12) Sean Hurley (The Sharpshooter)………………………………………..28-32 (NR)
13) Joe Baiamonte (Baiamonte’s Casa/2009 WV Champ)………24-20 (NR)
14) Enzo Mendicino (WWE NXT/ROH on HDNet Recaps)…………..3-5 (3-5)

There will be some that have yet made predictions. If they do, I will place them under the comments section of this article.

This week’s Students of the Week are Rocky Jr., Ricky Langston, and Paul Meade. In order to be the Students of the Week the next time we do predictions, you must beat (i.e. better record and NO DRAWS) the current ones here. Just like boxing or MMA, if the champ ties the challengers (the challengers being the WV Students) then the champ retains the title of “Student of the Week”.

Predictions for WWE’s Bragging Rights 2010

***Non-Championship Matches***

Interpromotional Singles Match
Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler

Josh B. – BRYAN.

Dave S. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Jose M. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Rocky J. – There’s 3 Raw vs. SD matches, including 2 single matches, and I give this first one to DANIEL BRYAN. First reason is because he has the most to gain from it; Ziggler don’t need it to have heat, he still has Vickie. The 2nd reason is that I see LayCool winning so BRYAN has to tie this baby up.

Ricky L. – Hmmm…I’m actually looking forward to this match. I don’t know why, But I am…Bryan goes over, and This whole thing with Vickie and What’s-her-face reaches ahead. Winner: DANIEL BRYAN. (Personal Rant: Can’t we Please put the IC on Kaval so I can have my Low-Ki/ Bryan Danielson Match, Thank you.)

Paul M. – BRYAN over Ziggler.

Matt O. – ZIGGLER.

Anthony V. – My pick is DANIEL BRYAN. I think Ziggler will be distracted by Vickie Guerrero. Plus, Bryan I think would be the better choice from a booking standpoint.

Jeff S. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Mike T. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Enzo M. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Consensus: DANIEL BRYAN 8; Dolph Ziggler 3.

The 7-on-7 Interpromotional Elimination Tag Team Match to determine “Bragging Rights”

Team Smackdown (Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, Alberto Del Rio, Edge, Tyler Reks, and Kofi Kingston)

Vs.

Team Raw (The Miz, R-Truth, John Morrison, Santino Marella, Sheamus, CM Punk, and Ezekiel Jackson)

Josh B. – TEAM RAW.

Dave S. – TEAM RAW.

Jose M. – TEAM RAW.

Rocky J. – The decision maker for the new Trophy possessor… And I must admit it’s a tough one. I could clearly see Smackdown regain it a 2nd year in a row, but at the same time SD has dominated Raw so much, I could easily see Raw win it to tie it up from last year. So… it’s a toss up. And I’ll go with… TEAM RAW, so Miz has ANOTHER thing to brag about (“and we’ll never hear the end of it” like it’s said).

Ricky L. – Ugh..Survivor Series Jr….Team Raw Wins UNLESS there is a Team Nexus or some sort of Nexus involvement. Winner: TEAM RAW or Team Nexus.

Paul M. – TEAM SMACKDOWN over Team Raw.

Matt O. – RAW.

Anthony V. – My pick for the Trophy that looks like The Stanley Cup a bit goes to TEAM RAW. I think The Miz is a bit in a slump because of feuding for the second-tier belt. They have him an associate, the Money in the Bank case, and the captaincy for Raw. I think right now is a great time for him to get the pinfall and be the sole survivor in this tag match. Besides, look at Smackdown’s team. Del Rio is feuding with Mysterio. Edge might be feuding with Swagger. Kofi is just there because they need to find him a spot and I still don’t know who that other guy is. Big Show has a good team, but not a cohesive team.

Jeff S. – TEAM RAW.

Mike T. – TEAM RAW (as much as it pains me).

Enzo M. – TEAM SMACKDOWN…cause of their move to SyFy.

Consensus: TEAM RAW 9; Team Smackdown 2.

***Championship Matches***

For the WWE Unified Divas Championship
Layla (c) (w/Michelle McCool more than likely) vs. Natalya

Josh B. – NATTIE.

Dave S. – NATALYA (though probably through DQ).

Jose M. – LAYLA.

Rocky J. – Like I said in the Bryan-Ziggler match, I don’t see Natalya winning the belt, even though I’m on a clearly “LayCool overdose”. God, are they overused… it’s like Vickie Guerrero, it becomes annoying, even more them than Vickie. Besides, Natalya dominated the past few weeks so… LAYLA retains the strap, sadly… for our ears.

Ricky L. – Who cares, I hope this is about halfway through the card, so i have a nice bathroom break match. Winner: My Bladder, Oh, AND LAYLA/McUndertaker.

Paul M. – NATALYA over Layla (who was the original champion before this all started)

Matt O. – LAYLA.

Anthony V. – My pick is NATALYA. Either she wins clean or by disqualification, I think Natalya gets the victory.

Jeff S. – NATALYA.

Mike T. – NATALYA.

Enzo M. – LAYLA ….Beth Phoenix comes back and feuds with LayCool.

Consensus: NATALYA 6; Layla 5.

For the World Heavyweight Championship
Buried Alive Match
Kane (c) (w/Paul Bearer) vs. The Undertaker

Josh B. – UNDERTAKER.

Dave S. – THE UNDERTAKER, because for some reason I have convinced myself this dumb pick will come true.

Jose M. – KANE.

Rocky J. – Kind of like a tossup too. Undertaker could take revenge but on the other side, it’s the perfect time to make Kane a credible feared World Champion on his brand. I suspect Taker is gonna take some time off, so I’ll pick KANE to retain, and hopefully bring us into the new year still the Monster Champion.

Ricky L. – yeah..this match is going over like a lead balloon…Umm…*Flips a coin*…KANE Retains…Bearer gets Involved though.

Paul M. – KANE over Taker.

Matt O. – KANE.

Anthony V. – My pick is KANE. It was before the rumors surrounded Taker and it still will be my pick today. When he buries The Undertaker for a little while, I do fear that Kane may not have anyone that comes close to his wrestling style on the Smackdown brand. Am I thinking Taker may win and then lose it next month? It’s possible, but I am sticking with Kane.

Jeff S. – KANE.

Mike T. – THE UNDERTAKER.

Enzo M. – KANE….Taker is gone till royal rumble wins Rumble and faces Kane for title at WrestleMania

Consensus: KANE 8; The Undertaker 3.

For the WWE World Championship
Randy Orton (c) vs. Wade Barrett (w/John Cena)

Josh B. – RANDAL K. ORTON.

Dave S. – WADE BARRETT, it’s my birthday today, so hopefully my risky picks will pay off (probably not).

Jose M. – RANDY ORTON.

Rocky J. – Clearly the hardest pick for me… On one side, it’s a little soon to already take the belt off of Orton’s shoulders (yeah he don’t wear it, he carries it), plus it seems too soon to sold us Wade Barrett as a World Champ, so Orton should retain. On the other side, there’s the X Factor aka The Champ aka the Never Give Up “Superman of the WWE” aka John Cena! He could clearly help Barrett win but I can easily see him cost his leader the belt, on a communication problem (see there unintentionally), and Barrett blaming Cena for it. So… (thinks about it again)… I’ll go with my heart and say RANDY ORTON retains, and Barrett-Nexus spices up even more. I could see Barrett winning the belt, but not just yet, maybe in a rematch like TLC or the Rumble.

Ricky L. – This might not actually be a bad Match..Randy Orton is one of those wrestlers that can wrestle a Wet mop and make it look good. And Barrett is no Wet mop, Either. Cena Gets involved, and Costs Orton the Strap. Winner: WADE BARRETT.

Paul M. – ORTON over Barrett. This is where I predict Miz will finally cash in MITB. He has nowhere else to go right now except the title.

Matt O. – BARRETT.

Anthony V. – My pick for this one is WADE BARRETT. The winds of change finally are complete. I think Nexus does run in, but Cena fights them off. I think that the two factors of Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty will find a way to attack from behind and Barrett is awarded the title. It will be the day after that the winds start to calm down a bit.

Jeff S. – RANDY ORTON.

Mike T. – WADE BARRETT.

Enzo M. – Cena somehow screws Barrett over. ORTON wins. Nexus comes down beats the crap out of Orton ….Barrett orders Cena to give Orton an AA…. he does they leave Miz comes out and cashes in MITB briefcase and wins title.

Consensus: RANDY ORTON 6; Wade Barrett 5.
