Andrade requests release from WWE

Updated (10:30 p.m.): F4WOnline is reporting that Andrade’s request for a release was denied by WWE.

WWE Superstar Andrade has asked for his release from WWE.

First reported by Wrestling Inc and confirmed by multiple sources, Andrade (real name Manuel Oropeza) asked for his release this past Monday at the WWE Raw taping in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is not known as of this report if the request has been accepted.

Andrade last appeared on television for WWE on night two of the WWE Draft on Raw. Andrade lost to Angel Garza that night before being attacked by The Fiend. Andrade went undrafted and hasn’t made an appearance since.

After debuting with WWE in 2015, Andrade, known as La Sombra in Mexico, achieved main event status in NXT. Andrade won the NXT Championship with Zelina Vega as his manager. In 2018, he was called up to SmackDown. Andrade would go on to win the United States Championship from Rey Mysterio at a House Show in Madison Square Garden.

Andrade is engaged to WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair.
