Apollo Crews challenges Big E to make IC Title Match at WrestleMania a Nigerian Drum Fight

It looks like the WWE Intercontinental Championship Match as WrestleMania 37 is set to be a  gimmick match.

During Friday night’s episode of SmackDown, Apollo Crews cut a promo backstage promo challenging Big E to make the Intercontinental Championship Match at WrestleMania 37 a Nigerian Drum Fight.

Crews said in his promo the Nigerian Drum Fight is an ancient duel created by his ancestors for those who have been wronged with the chance to make things right. Crews went on to say that there are no rules or limitations – just a beating so loud it sounds like a drum.

Crews debuted a new character back on the February 26, 2021 episode of SmackDown, in which he began embracing his Nigerian heritage in which he claimed to be a descendent of Nigerian royalty.

The WWE Intercontinental Championship Match at WrestleMania 37 is taking place on Night Two, which is Sunday April 11.

WrestleMania 37 will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11. Both nights will stream live on Peacock in the United States and live on the WWE Network everywhere else.  WrestleMania 37 will also be available on traditional PPV.

As of this report Big E has not yet accepted Crews’ challenge. You can watch Apollo Crews’ challenge from Friday night’s episode of SmackDown above.
