Staff Predictions: WWE’s Survivor Series PPV

Predictions from the Faculty
WWE Survivor Series 2010 Edition
November 21, 2010
Predictions by: WrestleView Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty”. This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View. This weekend we will provide our selections for The WWE’s Fall Classic, Survivor Series, and it will be held at Miami, FL.

The card features seven (and possibly eight just in case) matches as of the time I typed this piece. More than likely, those are the only matches we will predict. Due to a spoiler that may have appeared on WrestleView, don’t be surprised if the staff made a pick for the Bryan vs. DiBiase match.

As for the columnists, Dave Stephens pulled off a shocking upset and beat Josh Boutwell at his own game (Boutwell is the TNA Recapper to those that need to be reminded) to gain sole possession of the Dean’s Chair. With only four more shows before this season is over, the errors must be at a minimum for our leaders. Keep an eye for Jose Marrero (who last year had a huge surge near the end) and Daniel Browne (he was our first Dean of WrestleView from this season until the Stephens/Boutwell Dynasty).

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on WrestleView provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case it will be Royal Rumble 2011).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “WrestleView Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings. We all thank you for your participation.

Before I show the class our selections, here are the rankings as of TNA’s No Surrender.

13) Joe Baiamonte (Baiamonte’s Casa/2009 WV Champ)………24-20 (NR)
14) Enzo Mendicino (WWE NXT Recapper)………………………………….11-9 (5-2)
15) Ryan Rivera (ROH on HDNet Recapper)………………………………….5-2 (5-2)

Absent are: Daniel Browne (who will send his later today), Doug Lackey, and Joe Baiamonte.

This week’s Student of the Week is Jason Bitzegaio. He earned it this week with his impressive 7-0 mark for TNA’s No Surrender, the previous Pay-Per-View. He will keep this status until someone in the WV Students section outright defeat him (remember, in case there is a draw the Student of the Week retains).

Predictions for WWE’s Survivor Series 2010

FOR THE WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Ted DiBiase, Jr.

David S. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Josh B. – DANIEL BRYANSON.

Jose M. – I don’t think this is a one and done feud but I give the first match to DANIEL BRYAN.

Jason B. – TED DIBIASE.

Matt O. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Anthony V. – Looking at how they only had one encounter before this match (if the rumor is true), I am going to go with DANIEL BRYAN to retain. DiBiase will get his chance at a later date.

Jeff S. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Mike T. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Sean H. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Enzo M. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Ryan R. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Consensus: DANIEL BRYAN 10-1. It looks like despite DiBiase’s early attack on Bryan, it should not lead to a title change. We expect Daniel Bryan to retain his championship.

Singles Match
John Morrison vs. Sheamus

David S. – JOHN MORRISON.

Josh B. – Casper the friendly Irishman. SHEAMUS.

Jose M. – Morrison looks good but SHEAMUS looks better as he has to remain strong for HHH.

Jason B. – SHEAMUS.

Matt O. – SHEAMUS.

Anthony V. – I think Sheamus has been built into a main event superstars. Also, the WWE wants to elevate some guys and give them a chance (it seems like for a while). Given the right program, there is potential. I see that with JOHN MORRISON. Morrison has a lot to lose or gain, while Sheamus could take a loss.

Jeff S. – MORRISON.

Mike T. – SHEAMUS.

Sean H. – SHEAMUS.

Enzo M. – Sheamus has been on a losing streak lately I’m going to give SHEAMUS the win here.

Ryan R. – MORRISON.

Consensus: SHEAMUS 7-4. On Monday, Morrison accused Sheamus of bullying the other superstars. Sadly at the end of Sunday, it is predicted that the bully will defeat another “fella” this weekend.

Traditional Survivor Series Elmination Tag Team Match
Team Mysterio (Capt. Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Chris Masters, The Big Show, and MVP)
Vs.
Team Del Rio (Capt. Alberto Del Rio, Drew McIntyre, Tyler Reks, Jack Swagger, and Cody Rhodes)

David S. – TEAM MYSTERIO.

Josh B. – TEAM REY REY.

Jose M. – TEAM DEL RIO for all the talk about Alberto he has yet to win a PPV match. This should be a good start for him.

Jason B. – TEAM MYSTERIO.

Matt O. – TEAM DEL RIO.

Anthony V. – I am easily picking TEAM MYSTERIO. Cody and Drew are not playing nice and Del Rio is about himself. The moment the Soaring Eagle gets attacked, Swagger will lose focus (that or he gets himself DQ’d for not letting go of the Ankle Lock). Del Rio will be that man who hogs the spotlight and not many heard of Reks. Mysterio’s team will survive, with Mysterio and Show as the survivors. By the way, I know he won’t get much time but I am happy to see Masters on this card.

Jeff S. – TEAM MYSTERIO.

Mike T. – TEAM DEL RIO.

Sean H. – TEAM MYSTERIO.

Enzo M. – TEAM MYSTERIO.

Ryan R. – TEAM MYSTERIO.

Consensus: TEAM MYSTERIO 8-3. In previous storylines, it looks like Del Rio’s team will crumble. Perhaps because of the storylines, Rey’s team has more chemistry and, possibly, more star power.

FOR THE WWE DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP
Handicap Match
Team LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) (c’s) vs. Natalya

David S. – NATALYA.

Josh B. – NATTIE.

Jose M. – I expect LAYCOOL to keep that title warm for Beth Phoenix. Besides a Hart winning a title at the Survivor Series?

Jason B. – LAYCOOL.

Matt O. – NATALYA.

Anthony V. – Seems like Natalya has been chasing for a very long time and I think it is finally time for NATALYA to score a victory and earn her first championship. For some reason, I would not be surprised to see a run-in by Beth Phoenix.

Jeff S. – NATALYA.

Mike T. – NATALYA.

Sean H. – TEAM LAYCOOL.

Enzo M. – NATALYA…. third time’s the charm.

Ryan R. – NATALYA.

Consensus: NATALYA 8-3. Despite the disadvantage, Natalya has been a bit on a roll in recent weeks. The majority of the Faculty wants a change in the Divas Title, and who better to win this belt than a woman that wear it well. As for LayCool, don’t expect a break up over a loss. They will still be around.

FOR THE WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Nexus (Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater) (c’s) vs. Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella

David S. – MARELLA AND KOZLOV.

Josh B. – NEXUS.

Jose M. – Come on really? NEXUS all the way.

Jason B. – NEXUS.

Matt O. – NEXUS.

Anthony V. – It’s going to NEXUS. I have no reason but to just say “Nexus”.

Jeff S. – SANTINO/KOZLOV.

Mike T. – NEXUS.

Sean H. – NEXUS.

Enzo M. – NEXUS.

Ryan R. – GABRIEL AND SLATER will retain. I don’t see Santino and Kozlov EVER winning crap in the WWE! WOW! Can’t believe this is even a match on the pay per view!

Consensus: NEXUS 9-2. It is very doubtful to see the team of Marella and Kozlov earn the victory. However, some should not be surprised. However, expect the tag championships at the hands of Nexus when this match is over on Sunday.

FOR THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Kaval

David S. – KAVAL.

Josh B. – KAVAL.

Jose M. – Kaval got his first win on Smackdown but a win streak this is not going to be I go with ZIGGLER.

Jason B. – ZIGGLER.

Matt O. – KAVAL.

Anthony V. – I have my doubts on this pick, but I am going with KAVAL. I think Vickie will cost Ziggler this match because of his attraction to Kaitlyn.

Jeff S. – ZIGGLER.

Mike T. – KAVAL even though I think I just threw away a pick here.

Sean H. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Enzo M. – KAVAL due to the fact Ziggler has been champ for a while.

Ryan R. – EXCUSE ME!!! ZIGGLER will retain!

Consensus: KAVAL 6-5. Kaval was guaranteed a title shot at a PPV and he chose the IC Title at Survivor Series. Kaval has lost a ton since his victory on NXT’s Season Two, and got the win over Ziggler, who is having a tough time maintaining his relationship with Vickie Guerrero. The Faculty is going with the upset special tonight in this contest. Kaval will bring “Total Nonstop Action” to Smackdown and the WWE with a prediction championship victory.

FOR THE WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Kane (c) vs. Edge

David S. – KANE.

Josh B. – KANE.

Jose M. – EDGE because I can see the Miz cashing in here. They never said he had to cash in on the WWE title and well a feud with him and Edge would probably work better than him vs. Orton.

Jason B. – KANE.

Matt O. – KANE.

Anthony V. – KANE wins this easily. I think Edge is improving since his injury, but I just don’t think now is the time to give him the belt.

Jeff S. – KANE.

Mike T. – EDGE. The title has to come off of Kane.

Sean H. – KANE.

Enzo M. – EDGE for same reason as the match above.

Ryan R. – EDGE.

Consensus: KANE 7-4. Even though Edge is a master of mind games, the Faculty does not expect a title change at this time. Kane will find a way to power out of anything of Edge’s and retain his World Heavyweight Championship.

FOR THE WWE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Free or Fired (If Barrett is the champion, Cena is free from the Nexus. Any other result will end with Cena’s termination)
Randy Orton (c) vs. Wade Barrett (Special Referee: John Cena)

David S. – WADE BARRETT.

Josh B. – BARRETT.

Jose M. – This one I go back and forth with but since I have to pick right now I am going to go with RANDY ORTON.

Jason B. – BARRETT.

Matt O. – BARRETT.

Anthony V. – Up until last Monday I was going the Wade Barrett route. However, the last time they had musical promos for Cena was when he said if he lost he would be off of Raw for good. Cena is still on Raw. Though I am going to be wrong and pick RANDY ORTON as the winner, I will think that Cena has a loophole in his stipulation and he will not get fired.

Jeff S. – BARRETT.

Mike T. – I’m going to take a risk and go with RANDY ORTON here. I’d like to see a fired Cena coming in through the crowd and beating up security until they have no choice but to reinstate him. That’ll give Vince McMahon a reason to come back and reveal the GM who fired Cena.

Sean H. – BARRETT.

Enzo M. – I honestly have so many Opinions on this…. but I think ultimately BARRETT wins title and Miz cashes in to win the title

Ryan R. – My pick for this one is WADE BARRETT will win this match over Orton. After the match, Cena will beat the breaks off of Barrett. The Miz will come down and cash in his MIB briefcase, leaving Survivor Series the World Champ! It hurts me to say that but that awful one will probably be the champ after everything is said and done.

Consensus: BARRETT 8-3. Some think that at the end of the night Cena could very well get fired and give the victory to Orton. However, the most popular pick here is that the leader of The Nexus earns his first championship at Survivor Series. On a side note, according to a couple members of the staff don’t be surprised that even if Barrett wins this match that he won’t leave Sunday night as the World Champion. Remember, The Miz still has his Money in the Bank Case.
