Adam Cole's WWE contract expiring Friday

NXT Superstar Adam Cole’s contract with WWE is going to expire on Friday, August 27.

First reported by Fightful and confirmed by multiple sources, Cole will become a free agent if he does not agree on a new deal with WWE by Friday. Cole is not allowed to negotiate with AEW or any wrestling promotion until the August 27 date.

Adam Cole’s last appearance was on NXT TakeOver 36 this past Sunday, losing to Kyle O’Reilly in “The Ultimate Finale.” This two-out-of-three falls match featured a traditional wrestling match, which O’Reilly won, a street fight, won by Cole, and a steel cage match, which O’Reilly ultimately won.

We had previously reported that Adam Cole’s WWE contract expired last month, but he had signed an extension with the company to perform until TakeOver 36.

Cole debuted with NXT at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III in 2017. He would go on to be the longest-reigning NXT Champion in the brand’s history, holding the title from June 2019 to July 2020. He was also the first person to hold the NXT North American Championship in 2018.

Cole, 32, is in a relationship with AEW World Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker, DMD.
