News and notes regarding the Women’s Royal Rumble; A surprise that reportedly didn’t happen

WWE Royal Rumble News and Notes

According to PWInsider, WWE reached out CJ Perry (Lana) about making a surprise appearance in the Women’s Rumble match. It is being said that there were some in the company who thought that as late as the week of the Royal Rumble, it would be a done deal. Perry was released last July from WWE.

Other news and notes from Saturday night’s WWE Royal Rumble according to PWInsider:

Molly Holly being added to the Women’s Rumble was said to be a late addition with the idea of Mighty Molly interacting with Nikki A.S.H to help build Nikki up.

Backstage, it was an emotional scene for a lot of the former Diva-era talents, as there were many who had not been at a WWE event in many years, so they all had a chance to catch up and visit with each other.  It was further noted that many of the women brought their children, making it even more special for everyone involved.

Several extra talents were brought in as a precaution in case someone did not pass medical protocols.

Ivory was among those who filmed a future Table for 3 episode to air on Peacock WWE Network.

A number of talents who were booked as surprises turned down photo and autograph requests from fans.  Furthermore, it was said that one talent literally told fans asking for photos that she could not “as she was a surprise.”  After the Royal Rumble was over, the talents were said to be more amenable to stopping for the fans.

Finally, the belief backstage was that fans could see more of Nikki and Brie Bella for Wrestlemania 38, but as of this report, there is no word as to if, or when that may happen.
