Lots of news and notes coming out of WWE Elimination Chamber

Brock Lesnar smashing through the Elimination Chamber door to enter the match was said not to be a planned spot.

The Bobby Lashley angle with him being hit in the head by the chamber pod door, following the Austin Theroy being Buckle Bombed in the door by Seth Rollins was planned as part of a storyline. There is some speculation that this could set up Rollins vs. Lashley at WrestleMania 38.

There was said to be at one point, the finish of the Women’s Elimination Chamber match to be a double pin with Bianca Belair getting her shoulder up at the last second as a way to protect Alexa Bliss since this was her first match since September of last year. However, the decision was later made to go with the clean finish to make Belair look stronger heading into her Wrestlemania 38 Championship Match with Becky Lynch.

The Usos vs. Viking Raiders angle was said to be something done to cut time from the show, and that the segment was always planned as an angle to set up a longer feud between the two.

It is being said that there were quite a few people in WWE “blown away” by the reception for Lita on the show.

The live crowd in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia arrived late due to a traffic jam heading to the Jeddah Super Dome, which is why the early portion of the show looked much emptier.  As we noted, the show was sold out in advance but had a lot of social distancing in the crowd due to local regulations.  There were somewhere in the area of 15,000-20,000 in attendance.

The Elimination Chamber went off the air a few minutes earlier than originally planned but the show, for the most part, ran on schedule.

The word backstage is that WWE will likely return to Saudi Arabia this Fall, either mid-October or November.

A number of people in WWE were said to have “marveled” about how far the company has come in terms of how women are presented on the shows in Saudi Arabia, with wearing oversized t-shirts and colorful ring gear that still respected local laws.

There were said to be no major injuries coming out of the event.
