According to a report by PWInsider.com, WWE will now be requiring all signed talent to purchase and maintain medical insurance for themselves. WWE will not pick up the costs of the insurance, but are requiring all talent to have the insurance for their own benefit.
This move had been in the works for a while. It’s being explained that the main reason WWE will not cover the talent themselves with medical insurance is that as “independent contractors”, talent would able to write off the cost of the medical insurance as a business expense. WWE will continue to cover the costs of surgeries or physical rehab based off injuries sustained while performing. This will also include substance abuse treatment.
