Details on McMahon retirement

More details are beginning to emerge regarding the news of Vince McMahon retiring from WWE.

PWInsider has a report stating that the decision for McMahon to retire from the company was privately made and finalized “around ten days ago.” The decision to make Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan Co-CEOs was made shortly after the decision was finalized.

The timing of the announcement was to ward off any negative fallout in the Stock Market. The announcement came at 4:08 p.m. Eastern on Friday, minutes after the market closed for the weekend. The WWE stock closed at $66.22 per share.

At SmackDown in Boston tonight, Kevin Dunn and Bruce Prichard are said to be in charge of WWE Creative for the show. Whether that will be the structure of WWE Creative moving forward remains to be seen.

WWE Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon, along with her husband, the new WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations Paul “Triple H” Levesque, are at the building. WWE Co-CEO Nick Khan is said to not be in attendance tonight.
