WWE debuts new concept Friday night at SmackDown

WWE debuted a new concept called WWE Speed at Friday’s WWE SmackDown at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

For the Speed concept, matches have five-minute time limits, with the winner of the match receiving one point. The loser of the match is docked one point, and if the match goes to a time limit draw, no points are awarded or deducted. A five-minute countdown clock appears on the big video screen during the matches.

F4WOnline notes the Speed concept appears to be a TV show pilot or possibly something that will be used for digital media property. Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick were calling the matches as if the show was being produced for broadcast. The report also notes that WWE Speed logo was displayed on the big screen and the ring apron and posts during the taping.

Also per F4WOnline, Axiom from NXT faced SmackDown’s Cedric Alexander and Raw’s Bronson Reed squared off against NXT’s Nathan Frazer for the matches taped.
