Update on Mercedes Mone’ and her status with AEW, WWE and NJPW

According to Fightful Select there were fake news stories pertaining to Mercedes Mone’ and her signing with AEW. The publication has also provided updates on Mone’ and her current status with WWE and NJPW.

Below are the details from Fightful Select’s report.

-The beginning of December, they (Fightful Select) were told tentative plans had originally indicated that around All In, AEW and Mone’ working together was no longer active and that the two sides were far apart on terms of a contract. It was not made clear on exactly what the “terms” were. The report notes that they (Fightful Select) has not been told, despite the reports on social media, that the door is closed between AEW and Mone’ Fightful Select did further note there was headline making the rounds online that “plans for Mercedes Mone’s AEW Debut canceled.” However, per Fightful Select, there was never such a report that Mone was going to debut in AEW, nor were any plans set for Mone that would have been canceled.

-NJPW does want Mone’ back in the company. She is not currently signed to a deal with them. There is no word on any discussions between NJPW and Mone’ as of this writing.

-As it pertains to WWE, it is being said the word making the rounds is that WWE is planning on renewing talks with several free agents at the start of 2024. However Mone’ at this time is not on the list. It was further said that Fightful Select has heard from no one close to the creative team that WWE has prepared any plans for a possible return for Mone’.

Mone’ last competed at NJPW Resurgence back May 21, 2023, at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California. She suffered a broken ankle, which continues to keep her out of action.
