Predictions from the Faculty Lounge
PPV: WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (December 13)
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo
Predictions by: WrestleView.com staff and readers
Well, the faculty is soon about to close on its first fiscal year. After WWE’s latest PPV known as Tables, Ladders, and Chairs we will only have three more pay-per-views left until we close out the year-long predictions piece. Still, everything is up for grabs as we have faculty members (as well as students) vying to claim the spot of ?Dean of WrestleView?.
As we all know, Joe Baiamonte was our ?Dean? for the majority of the year. But as the old clich? in sports goes ?it’s not how you start, but how you finish?. That case hold true to the WrestleView Faculty. Right now, the author of ?Wrestling Rumblings? Jose Marrero holds a slim (but comfortable) lead over fellow columnists Baiamonte and Josh Boutwell. The standings will be listed below. However, we faculty members must be alarmed. The ‘students? of WrestleView is not far behind from Dean Marrero. With an estimated 95 PPV victories awarded to the students, they are only five wins behind our Faculty leader.
Listed below the standings of course will be our predictions. If any reader wants to be a part of the action, please e-mail me at mistervwv@hotmail.com. If you hold the best TLC record among the students, you will be awarded with a much-deserved Gold Star in the 46th edition of From the Desk of Mr. V.
Enough chit-chat (I do way too much of that anyways). Here are our current standings as of WWE’s last PPV, Survivor Series.
1) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings)?????????..??100-69 (3-3)
2) Joe Baiamonte (Baiamonte’s Casa)?????????……..97-71 (3-3)

4) WrestleView Students (The Loyal Readers)???????.95-74 (3-3)
5) David Stephens (That’s a Wrap and ECW Recapper)??93-76 (1-5)
6) Anthony Valvo (From the Desk of Mr. V/ROH Recaps)?89-80 (3-3)
7) Josh Piedra (The Shoot)???????????????????88-61 (3-3)
8) Mike Siciliano (Pro’s From the Palace)???????????86-77 (4-2)**
9) Matt O?Brien (Notes From The Nosebleeds)????????.78-60 (3-3)
10) Chris Kelly (King of All Wrestling Media)?????????..71-48 (3-3)
11) Phil Chroniger (On Second Thought..)??????????..64-62(4-2)
12) Doug Lackey (Reality From Ringside)???????????.64-70 (2-4)
13) Sean Hurley (The Sharpshooter)??????????????.60-43 (5-1)
14) Mike Tedesco (Smackdown and Superstars Recapper)?.30-22 (2-4)
15) Mike Klubnik (Stylin? and Profilin?)?????????????..20-14 (0-0)
16) Ryan Droste (Ask WV)?????????????????????.4-4 (0-0)
**For Professor Siciliano’s in-depth reasoning for his picks, check out Pro’s From the Palace #354**.
Absent from the Faculty are: Joe Baiamonte (though I think I will get his after this press release), Phil Chroniger, Sean Hurley, Mike Tedesco (I agree, Comcast does stink), Mike Klubnik, and Ryan Droste.
Though some may think it is all-but-over?it is far from it. Now, The WrestleView Faculty presents our predictions for tonight’s show.
NON-TITLE MATCH
Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston
Jose M. – This feud has been very funny to me. Last month I would’ve thought for sure that Orton’s team was going to go over since Kofi left him laying and logically it sort of made sense for Orton to go over. This month I kind of feel the same as Kofi kind of got his revenge by beating Orton last week on Raw, I don’t see him going two straight weeks and two straight PPV’s over on Orton so I am going to go with RANDY ORTON here.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – ORTON.
David S. – RANDY ORTON.
Anthony V. – I applaud Randy Orton for being in this situation. He could have whined and cried about this in real life, but I find this as a compliment that Orton will work with a guy like Kingston. Since Kofi has been getting Orton’s number as of late, I think RANDY ORTON wins here. Either or, I think both guys have been good for each other in this feud.
Josh P. – Kofi has been giving Randy a bunch of trouble over the past month or so. He’s been getting the upper hand, but it’s here where I think Orton will put him in his place. I see this as a gauge to see how Kofi can hang with a guy like Orton in the ring one on one. Randy goes over. RANDY ORTON
Mike S. – RANDY ORTON.
Matt O. – RANDY ORTON.
Chris K. – ORTON.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – ORTON via prolonging a potentially great feud. Their first one-on-one on PPV… throw in all the contingencies (Legacy the big one) and you know this definitely won’t be their only encounter…
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: RANDY ORTON 9-0. Let’s face it. Kofi Kingston has had Randy’s number more times than not since they started this feud back in late October. With Kingston winning his fair share (Survivor Series and the legdrop heard all around The Garden), the professors of WrestleView think it is time for Orton to finally come out the winner in this month’s PPV over Kingston.
On a side note, no Mr. McMahon theme. It seems like it had run its course.
CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES THAT DO NOT INVOLVE STIPULATIONS
**FOR THE WWE WOMEN?S CHAMPIONSHIP**
Michelle McCool (c) vs. Mickie James
Jose M. – I feel that in order for this program to either end or for that matter even progress MICKIE JAMES has to win this match. WWE is marketing it’s product towards children and I think it sends a pretty feel good message to have Mickie go over here. Michelle McCool has held the title long enough anyway.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – MICKIE.
David S. – MICKIE JAMES.
Anthony V. – First off, I can?t stand the way they are calling Mickie ?piggy?. Really classy, WWE. However, I can?t bet against a former school teacher. Thought not many like her, I will say that MCCOOL wins the match.
Josh P. – I just have a weird feeling that Mickie is going to walk out with this title. Then again, all women’s matches with me are a coin flip because I don’t care to follow anything involving the divas. MICKIE JAMES
Mike S. – MICHELLE MCCOOL.
Matt O. – MICKIE JAMES.
Chris K. – MICKIE JAMES.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – MCCOOL via continuing Mickie’s demotion. Isn’t it sad that an entire roster of female performers can be brought up or let down by one singular talent? From Mickie to Maryse… it’s interesting…
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: MICKIE JAMES will be the NEW Women’s Champion by a vote of 6-3. Thought Professors Lackey, Siciliano (in #354) and Valvo made a strong case that McCool will still be the champ after night’s end, the majority wanted a change. They may get it at TLC with Mickie as the predicted victor here this month.
**FOR THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP**
John Morrison (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
Jose M. – This could one day be main eventing a Wrestlemania but right now I see one guy on the rise and the other onto bigger and better things. If you asked me right now John Morrison is a pick to get one of those Wrestlemania main event spots (if you want to know who I think his opponent is its Jericho). I am not saying right now he is going to win the Royal Rumble but I see him getting there and I don’t see him going with the Intercontinental title might as well drop it here as he can always get the win back in a more meaningful program for a world title later. I am going with DREW MCINTYRE here.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – MCINTYRE.
David S. – DREW MCINTYRE.
Anthony V. – From what I have seen with McIntyre, I have to say it is not bad. He is going to be a main event level guy in the future?just not now. MORRISON retains the title in this battle, but don?t be surprised to see McIntyre win this belt in the next few months.
Josh P. – I don’t know about this one. They keep hyping Drew McIntyre and I believe that they might continue the hype with him winning the IC title, but the other side of me is saying that it’s too soon. I want to pick the upset here, but my gut is telling me Morrison retains. JOHN MORRISON.
Mike S. – JOHN MORRISON.
Matt O. – MORRISON.
Chris K. – DREW MCINTYRE.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – MORRISON via imagining the insanity otherwise. So… with over 4 months of Ziggler trying to grab the strap, you’re gonna’ convince me that McIntyre can get in his first try? I sure hope not…
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: JOHN MORRISON will retain his championship if the Faculty is correct. This decision was a close one, with Morrison coming away with 5 votes to McIntyre’s 4. While the Faculty’s best chose change in the Intercontinental Title, the lower-tier members think Morrison will come out on top, leaving McIntyre with some room to grow later on in 2010.
CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES WITH STIPULATIONS
**FOR THE WWE UNIFIED TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP**
Will be a full-fledged TLC Match
Chris Jericho/Big Show (c’s) vs. Shawn Michaels/HHH (Degeneration X)
Jose M. – I really think both Jericho and The Big Show have sort of run there course as champions and as much as I doubt we will see DX regularly show up on Smackdown due to Shawn Michael’s religious commitments the truth of the matter is I think DX still has somewhat of a rub to give a team out there and I think that rub will involve them losing the tag team titles to a tag team. Go with DEGENERATION X here.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – DX.
David S. – JERISHOW.
Anthony V. – Wow, this one is a tough one for me. I know many people will choose those degenerates in this contest, but I will go on a different route here. I am picking JERISHOW here in an upset. My logic may not sound right; but I would think that Michaels? outside-wrestling commitments would prevent him from touring on both brands. I think this has potential to be a good match, but I see the bad guys retaining for some reason.
Josh P. – I would not be surprised by the least bit if DX walks out with the tag titles. Jerishow had a pretty good run with them, but I see the WWE running with this DX thing a bit longer so I’m going to say they capture the gold… even though it’s not what I want to happen. DX.
Mike S. – DEGENERATION X.
Matt O. – DX.
Chris K. – JERISHOW.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – JERISHOW via cannot fathom constant DX-assery. Every Monday is enough DX obnoxiousness for me to handle… and I don’t think HBK or HHH could handle the considerable increase in *ahem* workload…
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: If the Faculty predicts this one correctly, we will have NEW Unified Tag Team Champions. Though Jerishow have been worthy champions throughout the second half of 2009, Degeneration X is a foe that Jerishow haven?t seen during their title reign. By a vote of 5-4, DEGENERATION X are predicted to win their first tag team titles as a team.
**FOR THE ECW CHAMPIONSHIP**
Will be a Ladder Match
Christian (c) vs. Shelton Benjamin
Jose M. – I would really be looking forward to this match if WWE didn’t keep going out of there way to tell you that these two are going to “steal the show”. Oftentimes when you hear that the opposite happens. I hope this isn’t one of those times. I think Christian has done all he can do with the ECW title and Shelton can really use a win here as I would expect WWE to try and develop him this next year and keep him out of being the Money in the Bank bridesmaid that he has been in previous years. I go with SHELTON to win the gold.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – SHELTON.
David S. – SHELTON BENJAMIN.
Anthony V. – I am excited about this one. This is my match of the evening. Both men know ladders; they climbed them and took bumps off of them. They are arguably the two best men on the ECW roster right now. In the end I must say sorry to Christian, but your time as ECW Champ will come to an end. SHELTON wins this, but I think we all win in this match.
Josh P. – Shelton doesn’t really deserve the title… ever. CHRISTIAN.
Mike S. – SHELTON BENJAMIN.
Matt O. – CHRISTIAN.
Chris K. – SHELTON BENJAMIN.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – SHELTON via small sips of Kool-Aid. Everyone needs to stop chugging this stuff… stop thinking ECW is going away… stop thinking Shelton is going to kill the brand… stop thinking Christian is going to start competing for higher-tier titles… it’s just a change that’s needed.
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: Many of us members think this will be the match of the night. Both men have been there and done that before. In the end, the Faculty predicts another change in a championship. The majority chose the challenger SHELTON BENJAMIN to win his first ECW Championship. The Faculty predicted Shelton 7-2 over the current ECW Champion, Christian.
**FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP**
Will be a Chairs Match
The Undertaker (c) vs. Batista
Jose M. – Undertaker needs to drop the belt, but not like this. I’d much rather see Undertaker go over here and maybe drop the title next month or even February when this feud has a bit more steam behind it so I am picking UNDERTAKER to retain.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – TAKER. Can someone explain to me WTF chairs match is?
David S. – BATISTA.
Anthony V. – I just don?t get a chair match. That match just does not sell for me, regardless of the Batista heel gimmick (which I am a fan of). Though this is a toss-up, I can see UNDERTAKER winning this match. I think Undertaker will keep it until the Royal Rumble.
Josh P. – I’m scared of this one… I don’t want Batista to hold the championship… I really don’t. I know this new heel persona has kind of gotten off to a rocky start, but I am seeing the WWE wanting to push him… however, I don’t think it’s time for Undertaker to drop the title.. especially on a sub-par PPV like this one. UNDERTAKER.
Mike S. – BATISTA.
Matt O. – BATISTA.
Chris K. – THE UNDERTAKER.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – UNDERTAKER via more contingencies than Orton. Kane? Rey? Edge, maybe? (I know I’m smoking some sever stuff thinking that)… but there’s way too many sideplots running through my noggin… stick with the surefire then…
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: Though we are not sure as to how this stipulation goes (a chairs match?), but the Faculty still predicted a winner for this contest between the two, at times, injury-prone superstars. The end result according to the professors of WrestleView? The majority decided to stay with the champ. THE UNDERTAKER is predicted to retain the title by a vote of 6-3.
**FOR THE WWE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP**
Will be a Table Match
John Cena (c) vs. Sheamus
Jose M. – Sheamus may have his time one day to be champion but that time isn’t today. I go with CENA all the way here.
Joe B. – N/A.
Josh B. – CENA.
David S. – SHEAMUS.
Anthony V. – I know there is talk around the WrestleView Radio Network that Sheamus can win the Title then drop it back to Cena in the 3-Hour RAW the next day. I am not buying it. CENA wins because it is a PPV and he never loses a PPV to a mid-card talent (thought Sheamus? ceiling is pretty high).
Josh P. – Sorry, but the shamrock milkshake will not win this. JOHN CENA.
Mike S. – JOHN CENA.
Matt O. – CENA.
Chris K. – For this I predict a clusterf*ck finish so bare with me, Sheamus will put Cena thru the table so he wins the belt only for Cena to cashes in his rematch clause and will back the title… Winner JOHN CENA.
Phil C. – N/A.
Doug L. – CENA via… Really?…. Really?… Really. I’m not going to even bother explaining myself…
Sean H. – N/A.
Mike T. – N/A.
Mike K. – N/A.
Ryan D. – N/A.
AND THE PREDICTED VICTOR: Professor Stephens was true to his word that Sheamus will go over in this match. However, his colleague Prof. Kelly and the rest of the Faculty predict that the champ will retain. JOHN CENA is predicted to retain the WWE Championship by a vote of 8-1 over the Celtic Warrior.
