PPV Predictions: Wrestlemania 28

Predictions from the Faculty
WWE WRESTLEMANIA XXVIII EDITION
April 1, 2012
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the Round #4 of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #4). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for The Granddaddy of them all, WRESTLEMANIA XXVIII! The show will be held at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.

The card is currently booked to have nine matches; however one of the matches will not count in our official standings.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists, recappers, and radio hosts at Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2013 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. You can participate by contacting me in any means under the “Dismissal” portion of this piece. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be four championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be FOUR points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the SECOND time in our four seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2013). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Predictions for WWE WrestleMania XXVIII!

(Note: N/A means that a person’s picks are “not available” at the moment).

Divas Tag Team Match

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres

Josh B. – KELLY & MARIA.

Nick G. – KELLY/MARIA.

Jason N. – KELLY & MENOUNOS.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – KELLY AND MENOUNOS. I just can’t see celebrities losing, ever.

Mike T. – KELLY KELLY AND MARIA MENOUNOS.

Matt O. – KELLY AND MARIA.

Dave S. – MARIA AND KELLY.

Darragh O. – KELLY KELLY AND MARIA MENOUNOS.

Greg M. – MARIA MENOUNOS AND KELLY KELLY

Jose M. – MARIA MENOUNOS AND KELLY KELLY.

Grash – KELLY/MARIA.

Bob Z. – KELLY KELLY & MARIA

CONSENSUS: MARIA AND MENOUNOS 12-0. Though Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres are the more popular divas in the division, when a celebrity is on the card they never lose.

12-Man Tag Team Match to determine who will be the GM for BOTH Raw and Smackdown

Team Johnny (Capt: David Otunga, Mark Henry, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, and Drew McIntyre)

Vs.

Team Teddy (Capt: Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, The Great Khali, Zack Ryder, and Booker T)

Josh B. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Nick G. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Jason N. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – TEAM JOHNNY. Teddy Long has been a GM for years. It is time for a change, sadly.

Mike T. – TEAM JOHNNY :'(

Matt O. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Dave S. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Darragh O. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Greg M. – TEAM JOHNNY.

Jose M. – N/A.

Grash – TEAM JOHNNY.

Bob Z. – TEAM JOHNNY.

CONSENSUS: TEAM JOHNNY 11-0. This is the swan song for Teddy Long, as all members of the Wrestleview Staff are going with Mr. Excitement’s team to win and for Johnny Ace to be the GM for both shows.

Randy Orton vs. Kane

Josh B. – ORTON.

Nick G. – ORTON.

Jason N. – RANDY ORTON.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – ORTON. I think this may be a good match, but in the end Orton wins.

Mike T. – RANDY ORTON.

Matt O. – RANDY ORTON.

Dave S. – ORTON.

Darragh O. – ORTON.

Greg M. – RANDY ORTON.

Jose M. – RANDY ORTON.

Grash – ORTON.

Bob Z. – RANDY ORTON.

CONSENSUS: ORTON 12-0. We all like Kane going back to being a monster once again, but we all predict that it won’t matter when facing “The Viper”.

Hell in a Cell Match

Triple H vs. The Undertaker (Special Referee: Shawn Michaels)

Josh B. – TAKER.

Nick G. – TAKER.

Jason N. – THE UNDERTAKER.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – UNDERTAKER. There is actual doubt in my pick, but I think Taker can sell merch with a record of 20-0, not 19-1.

Mike T. – UNDERTAKER.

Matt O. – UNDERTAKER.

Dave S. – UNDERTAKER.

Darragh O. – UNDERTAKER. (Time to start rallying for Sting vs. The Undertaker for WM XIX in 2013)

Greg M. – UNDERTAKER.

Jose M. – N/A.

Grash – HHH.

Bob Z. – UNDERTAKER.

CONSENSUS: UNDERTAKER 10-1. Though there is some doubt that the streak will continue, almost everyone on the Wrestleview Staff believe that “The Streak” will continue after the bell rings to conclude the match.

Triple Threat Tag Team Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship

(Note: This match will NOT count on our official standings)

Primo and Epico (c’s) vs. The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel

Josh B. – PRIMO AND EPICO.

Nick G. – USOS.

Jason N. – THE USOS.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – EPICO AND PRIMO. I look for the champs to retain. It won’t be anything great.

Mike T. – THE USOS.

Matt O. – USOS.

Dave S. – N/A.

Darragh O. – JUSTIN GABRIEL AND TYSON KIDD.

Greg M. – N/A.

Jose M. – EPICO AND PRIMO.

Grash – EPICO AND PRIMO.

Bob Z. – EPICO & PRIMO.

CONSENSUS: EPICO AND PRIMO got 5 votes (Usos got 4 and Gabriel/Kidd got 1). Though this match will not count in our standings due to many of the readers predictions not including this match, the staff did make a “fun” pick. The staff was very split in who will win the championship, but in the end we are giving the slight edge to the champions.

Singles Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. The Big Show

Josh B. – CODY.

Nick G. – SHOW.

Jason N. – CODY RHODES.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – SHOW. I think with all this trash talk it is obvious. Show KOs Cody in under a minute.

Mike T. – BIG SHOW.

Matt O. – BIG SHOW.

Dave S. – CODY RHODES.

Darragh O. – THE BIG SHOW.

Greg M. – THE BIG SHOW.

Jose M. – BIG SHOW.

Grash – BIG SHOW.

Bob Z. – BIG SHOW.

CONSENSUS: BIG SHOW 9-3. Rhodes has some support and he is quickly becoming a star for the WWE. However, the staff predicts that Show will finally get his break as a winner (as a singles’ wrestler) in this match. The staff expects a title change.

Singles Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (SD Brand)

Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Sheamus

Josh B. – SHEAMUS.

Nick G. – SHEAMUS.

Jason N. – SHEAMUS.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – SHEAMUS. I think either by a pin or by Bryan’s character fleeing it will be a win for Sheamus. Won’t be surprised if AJ costs Sheamus the match though.

Mike T. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Matt O. – SHEAMUS.

Dave S. – SHEAMUS.

Darragh O. – SHEAMUS.

Greg M. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Jose M. – SHEAMUS.

Grash – SHEAMUS.

Bob Z. – SHEAMUS, the reign of the nerd is over!

CONSENSUS: SHEAMUS 10-2. Though the hosts of “Wrestleview Telemundo” predict that Bryan will retain, the rest of the Wrestleview Staff predict that in some way Sheamus will be the winner.

Singles Match for the WWE Championship (Raw Brand)

CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho

Josh B. – PUNK.

Nick G. – PUNK.

Jason N. – CHRIS JERICHO BY DQ.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – PUNK. We are seeing a side of Punk in the WWE that we never witnessed before. In my view, the match of the night.

Mike T. – CM PUNK.

Matt O. – JERICHO.

Dave S. – CM PUNK.

Darragh O. – CM PUNK.

Greg M. – CM PUNK.

Jose M. – CM PUNK.

Grash – CM PUNK.

Bob Z. – JERICHO.

CONSENSUS: PUNK 9-3. Chris Jericho could win this due to a distracted CM Punk, but the majority predict that Punk will be “The Best in the World” by the time the night is over.

SPECIAL ONCE IN A LIFETIME MATCH

John Cena vs. The Rock

Josh B. – CENA.

Nick G. – CENA.

Jason N. – CENA.

Evan O. – N/A.

Anthony V. – CENA. One company does not let the past defeat their present and future. The WWE I think will do the smart thing and give Cena the win.

Mike T. – JOHN CENA.

Matt O. – CENA.

Dave S. – JOHN CENA.

Darragh O. – JOHN CENA.

Greg M. – JOHN CENA.

Jose M. – JOHN CENA.

Grash – JOHN CENA.

Bob Z. – CENA.

CONSENSUS: CENA 12-0. Simply this was an easy pick for our staff. Now before we get comments that provide uneducated (and clichéd) reasons as to why Cena is not a good wrestler think about the future of the WWE. The Wrestleview Staff sees it, thus this is one of the many reason why we possibly believe that Cena will win this Dream Match.
