The upcoming film The Smashing Machine, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as former MMA champion Mark Kerr, is reportedly aiming for a December 2024 release date.
This would mark a quick turnaround for the biopic, which began production earlier and is expected to last until August.
A24, the studio backing the project, appears to be focused on a strong Oscar campaign for the film, following previous films Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All At Once winning the award for Best Picture.
The Smashing Machine is directed and written by Benny Safdie, with Emily Blunt, Lyndsey Gavin, Oleksandr Usyk, Ryan Bader, and Zoe Kosovic joining Johnson in the cast.
