Vince McMahon’s legal team files to oppose Janel Grant’s amended complaint

According to a new report from POST Wrestling, a filing on behalf of Vince McMahon seeks to oppose the amended complaint that was recently filed by Janel Grant’s legal team.

The report notes that on Friday, Vince McMahon’s lawyer Jessica Rosenberg filed a motion to strike down the updated complaint filed by Grant, which contains additional allegations and identities of individuals listed previously in the initial complaint as anonymous.

The amended complaint which consists of 101-pages, includes Brock Lesnar named as the ‘WWE Superstar’ which Grant alleges Vince used in attempt to traffic her. The amended complaint also reveals WWE President Nick Khan, Brad Blum, and Brian Nurse as three of the corporate officers, along with Stephanie McMahon who had been confirmed previously as another corporate officer and Dr. Carlon Colker identified as the ‘Celebrity Doctor’.

Allegations in the amended complaint include Vince sending sexually explicit content of Grant to WWE Hall of Famer and producer Michael P.S. Hayes and text of a voicemail from McMahon urging Grant to sign the nondisclosure agreement before an audit hearing in January 2022 to show how she had been pressured.

Post Wrestling also notes that Vince’s lawyer (Jessica Rosenberg) calls out the amended complaint as “untimely” and being done “in bad faith”. She accuses the plaintiffs of missing deadlines to respond to past motions to move the case to arbitration, which is the central argument that will be determined by Judge Sarah F. Russell, who will decide where the case will be assigned.

Furthermore, Rosenberg is accusing Grant’s team of purposely omitting facts from the original complaint and including them in the amended version in order “to create another press cycle”. The motion cites a press call Ann Callis conducted last year, with Rosenberg further noting Grant’s team hiring SKDK public relations firm to create “more firepower” in its messaging.

Post Wrestling includes that McMahon’s legal team refutes the notion of coercing Grant into signing the NDA with the defense that Grant accepted the first payment of $1 million and has never made any sort of attempt to return it.

Plaintiff accepted and retained $1 million under the Settlement Agreement.  She has not attempted to return that $1 million payment to Defendant McMahon. In doing so, she ratified the contract and “lost” “the power to avoid” the Settlement Agreement for “duress [and/or] undue influence.

Rather than comply with the clear terms of the Settlement Agreement, Plaintiff has repeatedly exploited the courts and the media to publicize a false narrative and information contractually required to remain confidential.  Permitting additional time to pass unduly prejudices Defendant McMahon and his ability to vindicate himself

Post Wrestling also notes in their report that hours after the motion was filed, former WWE Executive John Laurinaitis joined Vince McMahon by filing his objection to the amended complaint.

Laurinaitis and WWE are also defendants in the case. Laurinaitis’ legal representation is Edward Brennan.
