Update on Jeff Cobb’s status with WWE

According to a report from Fightful Select, a source within WWE has indicated that Jeff Cobb has been slated to join the company for quite some time now.

As reported by Fightful and several other media outlets, Cobb’s name has been listed on WWE’s internal roster for the past several months, while he continued to make appearances for NJPW.

Fightful Select notes that Cobb has fulfilled all his remaining obligations with NJPW, including a tag team title run with Callum Newman. The two won the belts back on April 4 at Sakura Genesis. Cobb and Newman only held the titles for nine days before Cobb officially left the promotion, which reportedly confused many about the title win and short reign, as many in NJPW knew Cobb was on his way out.

The report concludes that Cobb is indeed on his way to WWE for what has been described as a “good deal.” In addition, it is not clear which brand the 42-year-old Cobb will be placed on.

Cobb has also wrestled for AEW, ROH, and Lucha Underground.

On April 30, Cobb posted on social media that he was happy to retire and that he would let the waves take him to his next destination.
