Rey Mysterio gives update on WWE status following injury

In an interview with La Platica, Rey Mysterio was asked how his road to recovery was going after sustaining a torn groin.

Good, pretty good. Yeah, man. I started my [physical therapy]. Not to mention, I had a busted eardrum as well, so I fixed that during my time off. I’m on the road to recovery. I should be back hopefully by August.

The WWE Hall of Famer also addressed the manner in which the injury occurred, noting it came during a routine moment in a six-man tag match the night before WrestleMania 41.

I stepped in the ring, the guy that I was wrestling stood in front of me, he bailed out the ring underneath the bottom rope and I went to chase him. And when I pushed off with my left leg, I just heard a [tear]. Like, ‘That’s it? I tore my groin like that?’ Yeah, usually it happens on the simplest s–t. But with all the stuff that I do, you would always think that it’s something crazy. No, it’s always the opposite. Always the small stuff.

The update comes after Mysterio made an appearance at the WWE-AAA event Worlds Collide, kicking off the show with a promo celebrating lucha libre’s history and evolution.
