In a new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer addressed the status of WWE Speed.
The show exclusive to X (formerly Twitter) has not aired a new episode since July 9, with no word from the company on when (or if) it will be returning.
The episode saw Sol Ruca retain her Speed Women’s Championship against Alba Fyre, with no new tournament announced.
As noted by Meltzer, sources within WWE appear to be unsure on the status of Speed as well:
It appears WWE Speed is gone. They haven’t been taping new episodes and the titles have been forgotten. The deal with X probably expired. Whether it will be renewed or brought back isn’t clear. Those we’ve asked haven’t known one way or the other basically giving the impressions it was so insignificant that nobody has talked about it. There was no official word one way or the other.
WWE Speed premiered as a weekly series on the social media platform in April 2024, reported to be a two-year deal.
The current champions on the brand are Ruca, who has appeared on NXT television as a double champion also holding the NXT Women’s North American Championship, and El Grande Americano, whose status is also unclear given reports of injury despite the character (with Ludwig Kaiser “allegedly” under the mask) continuing to compete on Raw in recent weeks.
