WWE champion Sol Ruca addresses future of Speed

In an interview with Ten Count Media, Sol Ruca talked about the status of WWE Speed following its last episode airing July 9.

Ruca, who defended the Women’s Speed Championship against Alba Fyre on that show, addressed continuing to hold the title despite the show’s status being up in the air:

I’m definitely still a double champion. I am, you know, the Speed Champion and the North American Champion. I know there’s a little confusion about what’s going on. I honestly don’t really have an answer either. But until they tell me I’m no longer a double champion, I am still a double champion.

WWE Speed debuted in April 2024 on the social network X (formerly Twitter) in a partnership with WWE, and saw the likes of Ricochet, Andrade, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano win the men’s championship, with the latter seemingly out with injury (setting aside appearances on Raw and in AAA by someone under the same moniker).

Ruca is only the second woman to hold the women’s title for the show, defeating inaugural champion Candice LeRae on the April 16 episode.

On what the future could potentially hold for Speed, Ruca referred to herself recently having the title on television in recent weeks, stating:

Maybe we’ll start doing stuff on NXT with it. I mean, I was starting to wear it on NXT, which before wasn’t allowed because it was a separate — you know, technically a separate universe being on X. But I think there was a little bit of leeway, and now I think we’re just trying to figure out what we want to do with it. But, I mean, as of now, I’m still technically a double champion. So I’m not complaining.
