Dwayne Johnson cries after ‘The Smashing Machine’ premiere receives 15-minute standing ovation

Following the premiere of the MMA Fighter Mark Kerr biopic “The Smashing Machine”, at the Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy, the film’s producer and star, Dwayne Johnson began to cry after receiving a 15-minute standing ovation.

The film’s co-star Emily Blunt, who plays the love interest of Mark Kerr (played by Johnson), was standing beside Johnson during the applause.

Per IMDB, the film is based on the true story about former MMA/UFC champion Mark Kerr aka “The Smashing Machine” and the events surrounding his life and rise through the MMA world which was unfortunately derailed by his opioid addiction.

“The Smashing Machine” will also screen at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 8 and is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States and Canada on October 3.
