According to an exclusive report from Variety, Dwayne Johnson will be honored at the 8th American Black Film Festival Honors in February 2026.
The report notes Johnson will receive the Entertainment Icon Award. The 2026 American Black Film Festival Presented by Nice Crowd will take place on Monday, February 16 from the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Johnson’s most recent film, A24’s “The Smashing Machine,” in which he portrayed MMA fighter Mark Kerr was a box office disappointment despite winning the Silver Lion award at the International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada this past September. The film, which co-stars Emily Blunt only generated $11 million in the United States and Canada, and $10 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $21 million, against a $50 million budget.
Johnson has already begun filming the next installment in the rebooted Jumanji franchise in Los Angeles. The film is scheduled for a December 11, 2026 release date. Johnson is also starring in Disney’s live action remake of Moana, which is scheduled to hit theatres on July 10, 2026.
