John Cena confirms plans for final WWE match

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, John Cena confirmed that his final match in WWE will close out Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Responding to speculation and reports that his match against Last Time Is Now Tournament winner Gunther would open the show, the 17-time world champion referred to his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live:

I said I’m ending the show. I said I normally go to bed early, but I’m gonna have to stay up late for this one. I guess people didn’t read between the tea leaves, like, we’re going on last.

Cena further said he wasn’t sure how the rumors started, suggesting that “people with credibility like to kick a hornet’s nest every once in a while” before adding that he would be open to starting the show off if the company asked him to.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place December 13 from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
