Report: Former WWE star now contractually free to sign with AEW

Fightful Select has published a new report on the status of Andrade.

According to those familiar with the situation, Andrade is free and clear to sign with any promotion he chooses. It was also said his WWE deal officially expired sometime around December 12.

The report also notes legal representation which has worked closely with WWE for several years, assisted with facilitating the waiver for Andrade’s one-year non-compete clause. It was added that some did expect the non-compete to be challenged. However, those that were close to the process said that both sides handled everything professionally.

The report concluded that the those close to the situation, as it pertains to Andrade returning to AEW, officials remain optimistic that he will be back in the company.

Believing he was not under any non-compete, Andrade returned to AEW at the their 6th anniversary show at Daily’s Place back on October 1, attacking Kenny Omega and then aligning with Don Callis. Andrade quietly disappeared from AEW storylines after show.

Andrade made a surprise appearance at last Friday’s House of Glory Winter Warfare in Jamaica, Queens, New York. He is also The Crash Lucha Libre Champion and the WWC Universal Champion. HOG announced on Monday Andrade is scheduled to appear at their No Turning Back event on February 20, 2026.

It was also revealed he will be heading to New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 20 in Japan on January 4, 2026.
