Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline has provided an update on a former champion of New Japan Pro Wrestling, following a previous report of an impending free agency.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez stated that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is strongly rumored to be on his way to WWE.
It was noted that Tony Khan is not a fan of EVIL’s work in NJPW, so it is unlikely that AEW would stand in the way of WWE presenting him with a contract should the talent enter free agency when his current deal is up.
Since dropping the NEVER Openweight Championship to Aaron Wolf at Wrestle Kingdom 20, EVIL has competed in tag matches as recently as Night 2 of NJPW Road to The New Beginning, a losing effort against Wolf and his partners Master Wato, Toru Yano, and YOH.
