McMahon commemorates Veterans Day

Release: Veterans Day
November 11, 2009

West Hartford, Conn., November 11, 2009 ?U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon issued the following statement to commemorate Veterans Day:

?On this Veterans Day, we should all take the time to thank those who have bravely served our country. We should remember our troops stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world, and we should remember to keep in our prayers the victims and their families at Ft. Hood. America was built by patriots who left their friends and family behind to be on the front lines fighting for freedom. It’s important that we set aside time to honor them.

?Over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet many of the remarkable soldiers who have served in our armed forces. On the campaign trail, I have had the privilege to shake the hands of military personnel from around Connecticut. Each and every one had a story of bravery, patriotism and their love of country. These soldiers deserve our respect and admiration, and just as importantly, they deserve our continued support after their service has ended.

?This Saturday in Marlborough, ?Operation Home for The Holidays? will help bring 700 Connecticut National Guard troops back to Connecticut for winter break. I want to encourage everyone to learn more about this cause and participate in this worthy endeavor by visiting the event’s Facebook page or contacting the sponsor, Lisa Davenport at homegallery.lad@gmail.com.?
