WWE star Daniel Bryan posted the following on Twitter on Monday stating that he will be appearing on tonight’s 2/8 RAW live in Seattle to announce his retirement from in-ring competition due to medical reasons:
“Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I’ll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude”
Since 2014 Bryan has been out of action for WWE for significant lengths due to neck and head issues, notably a concussion that has kept him out of action since right after WrestleMania 31 in April 2015. Bryan has since gotten clearance to return to the ring by one doctor, but never received clearance from WWE’s official doctor Dr. Joesph Maroon.
With his immiment retirement, Bryan (Bryan Danielson) will be retiring from the ring at only 34 years old having won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship three times and the United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships each once and in his previous run in Ring of Honor from 2002 to 2009, the ROH World Title once.
