WWE has officially commented and released details on Edge’s Achilles tendon tear injury suffered last Friday in San Diego, CA at a WWE house show event in a match with Jeff Hardy.
The article notes that Edge arrived in Birmingham, AL at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital earlier this morning to repair the torn Achilles tendon in his left ankle. The surgery was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET this morning with Dr. James Andrews.
The company has yet to comment on how long Edge will be out of the ring as a result of the surgery for the injury. Earlier estimates this past weekend had Edge out for possibly as long as six months or even longer. WWE is expected to release additional details later today along with the status of the planned WWE Unified Tag Team Championship match set for Night of Champions with Edge and Chris Jericho scheduled to face Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase.
