The Boogeyman v. Kane

Even the red monster is a bit put off by the weirdness of the man found under my bed ? The Boogeyman. It seems that Boogey wants for make friends and holds out a hand full of worms for Kane. The Big Red Machine takes them in his hand, and then punches Boogey in the face!

Kane is quick to go on the offensive with a slew of punches before slamming Boogey to the mat. Kane goes up to the top rope for a lariat, but Boogey moves out of the way and Kane crashes hard. Kane leans on the corner for support and the Boogeyman hits a splash. Kane follows this up by hitting a hard punch that sends Boogey reeling. Boogey decides to go for one last ditch attempt and scales the ropes to the top turnbuckle. The Boogeyman leaps ? and Kane catches him for a chokeslam!

Winner via Chokeslam: Kane

Up Next: Santino v. Mark Henry!

Money in the Bank Qualifying Match
Mark Henry w/ Tony Atlas v. Santino w/ Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendez

Before the match Santino puts over that he could have done anything in his life, including being a lifeguard. Regardless, they are here to wrestle. Santino’s hair is golden frosted tonight. Hey, if he is going metro sexual then I?m going to start doing hair and wardrobe updates.

Henry starts off the match by knocking Santino to the ground and Santino rolls out of the ring. Santino gets back and leaps to knock over Henry, but the big man doesn?t even budge. Santino bounces off the ropes again, but this time the big man catches him and hits the World’s Strongest Slam!

Winner via World’s Strongest Slam: Mark Henry

After the match Striker astutely remarks that ?they will have to reinforce the ladders?. I personally can?t wait for the ?World’s Strongest Man? to climb the ?World’s Strongest Ladder? for the ?World’s Briefest Briefcase?

Alicia Fox w/ DJ Gabriel v. Natalya w/ Tyson Kidd

Natalya takes Alicia down to the mat and that locks her head up. Natalya is whipped into the ropes and then takes a knee and stares Slicia down. Alicia isin the corner and looks to be going for a headscissors but only has her head pounded to the mat. Natalya locks in an abdominable stretch and Fox looks to be in pain.

All grace is gone as Natalya literally slaps Alicia across the face. Alicia has been backed up into the corner but Alicia goes for a sunset flip, but Natalya kicks out. Alicia goes for another quick roll through but once again Natalya kicks out. Natalya is a bit frustrated and starts wrapping Fox’s legs up ? and hits the Sharpshooter! Alicia has no choice but to tap!

Winner via Sharpshooter: Alicia Fox

Following the match, DJ and Tyson get a couple of kicks and punches in on each other.

Jack Swagger, Miz & Morrison v. Christian, Tommy Dreamer & Finlay w/ Hornswoggle

?Swoggle starts the match off right by heading under the ring. Christian is in the ring which means it is time for Extreme Charisma Wrestling! Tommy and Swagger will start things off. Wait, it seems that Swagger is playing mind games and Jack tags in Miz. Dreamer gets whipped into the ropes a bit and tags in Finlay.

The Irishman comes in and sends Miz down to the mat. He tries to throw Miz’s head into the corner but Miz counters and throws Finlay’s into the turnbuckle. Finlay rolls out of the ring and Miz follows right after with a Baseball slide! Finlay pulls back the apron and traps Miz in between the ring and the apron. Morrison comes over to help free The Miz. Hornswoggle comes out of nowhere and hits an ?attempted suicide? dive! ECWoggle! ECWoggle! ECWoggle!

We come back and Christian is in the ring with The Miz. Christian hits a nice spinning heel kick. Dreamer gets the tag and Christian hits a spinning toe hold to send Miz to the mat. Miz is able to get in a punch which allows him a brief reprieve to tag in Morrison. Dreamer seats himself on the top turnbuckle, but Morrison kicks him square in the head. Swagger rolls Dreamer back into the ring. Morrison is holding Dreamer’s arms back and tags in his lispy partner, Swagger.

Jack goes hard on the offensive by locking in a front headlock. He accentuates this hold by driving his fist into Dreamer’s back. Swagger tags in Miz. Dreamer is still struggling as Miz enters the ring and hits a hard splash into the corner. The series of quick tags continue as the Shaman of Sexy enters the ring. MizMo hits a tag team arm drag and then Morrison tags in Swagger.

Jack grabs Dreamer and gets met with a sunset flip attempt by Dreamer. Jack isn?t fazed and he levels the hardcore maniac with a Belly-to-Belly suplex. Dreamer is on his back and Swagger bounces off the second rope to splash Dreamer, but Tommy rolls out of the way! Swagger tags in Morrison who is able to keep Dreamer in tagging in a partner, but Tommy kicks Morrison and tags in Captain Charisma!

Christian is effortlessly flying around the ring with beautiful flair and speed! Miz tries to enter and distract, but Christian moves out of the way. John attempts his finisher but Christian counters and goes for his own, but John counters that! Christian goes up to the top rope and tries for a sunset flip but Morrison is able to escape. Christian goes to the top rope and hits a flying headbutt!

The referee is losing track of the action as bodies are flying everywhere! John Morrison bounces off the ropes to go for a high kick, but Christian dodges and hits the Unprettier! But wait ? Swagger got the blind tag by Morrison and jumps into the ring. Christian is caught off guard and hit with the Blue Thunder Bomb! This match is over!

Winners via Blue Thunder Bomb: Swagger & MizMo

ECW Thoughts

Now this was a fun show tonight. Not everything was perfect, but hey I had fun so let’s take a peek at what worked. The Boogeyman v. Kane was good. Some may argue that Boogey was squashed or buried, but it really doesn?t make a difference. He is still going to be that really creepy, yet fascinating beast that you want to crawl around in the mud with throughout the night; regardless of whether or not he gets beaten by Kane or not. Oh and uh if you?ve never had that desire before ? you are thinking about it now, aren?t you?

Santino v. Mark Henry was also perfect. There is no way that Santino should realistically beat Henry so they kept the match short and comical, nothing wrong with that. Santino is really doing quite well with himself lately; his frosted hair seems to have resulted in a harem. The only thing this match made me question is why we are getting Mark Henry in a ladder match over Rey Mysterio. I would much have preferred Kane v. Henry and Rey v. Santino for qualifying matches. The initial matches would be better, and I think Mysterio would have done great things for the match. I?m still hoping that Evan Bourne will be back in time to participate but it doesn?t look like that’s what they want to do.

The Divas match did not work for me, and I?ll tell you why. The match was good, but it is now done. There are so few women on ECW that it forces them into a position where their wrestling will always be irrelevant except in furthering the feuds of the wrestlers that they are accompanying to the ring as a valet. As much as I joked about being depressed about losing Kelly Kelly, I didn?t mind because besides stripping, what place did she really have on the show?

Christian is awesome! I?m still on a bit of a high in gaining him on the brand but even if I throw bias aside, he is doing the right things. His crowd response is decent and his in ring ability is solid. We are seeing a more high flying Christian than we have in the past ? this is what he cultivated in TNA ? and it is working. As long as he doesn?t go for Frog Splashes out of the ring every single match it will work well. His speed and flash are really what have me going right now. He just needs to keep the charisma and enthusiasm up and the good times will continue to roll.

I need to extend a big thank you to Mike Tedesco for covering the recap for me last week, he did a great job. You can find his Smackdown recaps each week on the site!
