Are you ready? Then stop questioning your heart and join me, because it’s time for ECW on SyFy!

The show kicks off with a shot of the ECW logo on a TV backstage. CM Punk walks into the shot and puts over both himself and ECW. CM Punk says that when he goes to the ring for his match tonight it will be the longest and loudest standing ovation in ECW history. We head to the soul popping theme as it is time to get this show started!

Christian & R-Truth v. William Regal & CM Punk in a special Survivor Series preview will tonight’s main event!

?Oh Radio? floods the arena as Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes make their way to the ring. Zack says that he loved having Rosa in his corner last week in his match against Shelton Benjamin. Mendes starts to ramble on about a time that she went shopping. Ryder says that he wants to challenge Shelton for another match. Rosa then starts to relate a story about having Margaritas with her girlfriends.

Shelton Benjamin’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Shelton says that he accepts the challenge for a rematch. Shelton says maybe this time round instead of Rosa being in Zack’s corner, Ryder could be in Rosa’s corner and Shelton and her can have a little ?wrestling? match. This does not sit well with Ryder who tells Shelton not to mess with his girl. Shelton tells Ryder that if they are going to have a match, then they should have it right now! Ryder says that now isn?t the time, but when they do have the match it is important that Ryder doesn?t insult his girl. Ryder then slips in a cheap shot on Benjamin knocking him to the mat!

Video package airs highlighting the Hurricane/Burchill feud and tonight’s career altering Mask v. ECW Roster slot match, and it is up next!

Mask v. Career
Hurricane v. Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea

The match starts off with Burchill taking the aggressive route and throwing the Hurricane to the mat. Hurricane manages to catch Burchill off guard and hits a Hurricarana that sends Burchill through the ropes to the outside. Hurricane takes flight as he hits a beautiful plancha to the outside! Back in the ring Katie Lea is able to distract Hurricane just long enough for Paul to knock him down to the mat as we head to commercial.

We come back to a slew of moves and counters between the competitors. Burchill hits a nice Northern Lights Suplex and bridges for the pin, but Hurricane kicks out. Paul yells angrily at his sister to ?help him?, but there is nothing that Katie Lea can do at the moment. Hurricane hits a hurricarana, but Burchill kicks out. Paul tries for a suplex, but Hurricane counters into the eye of the hurricane. He goes for the cover, but Burchill kicks out! Hurricane tries to make his way to the top turnbuckle, but Paul scales up to counter. They struggle on top, and then Hurricane connects with a neckbreaker from the top rope! Hurricane gets the win and Burchill and Katie MUST leave ECW!

Winner via Neck Breaker: Hurricane

After the match, Burchill and Katie Lea are shown together in the ECW ring looking rather distraught.

In the back we see Tiffany watching the show on a monitor. CM Punk comes up and asks her if she knows that he is Straight Edge and what that entails. He also points out that Tiffany does not prescribe to that particular lifestyle. Punk points out that she enjoys drinking. Tiffany confirms that fact and says that CM Punk should try it sometime. He should try loosening up, having some fun, and being a human being. Punk has a look of bewilderment on his face as we head to commercial.

Vance Archer v. Johnny Andrews

Andrews gets absolutely hammered in this quick squash match. Vance connects with a couple of strong kicks and punches and then hits his finisher, the Bull’s Eye.

Winner via Bull’s Eye: Vance Archer

In the back we see Christian suiting up as CM Punk enters the shot. Christian starts mocking Punk for being Straight Edge. Christian starts calling him nerd which does not sit well with Punk. CM tries going with the whole ?I was 3 Times World Heavyweight Champion?, but Christian counters with, ?you WHERE champion, I AM champion?.

Christian & R-Truth v. CM Punk & William Regal

This match gets rolling after a quick commercial break at the start. It is R-Truth on the outside with Punk. Regal hits a cheap shot on Truth which allows Punk to catch his breath once both men are back in the ring. Punk tags in Regal and he goes right to work on the leg of R-Truth. Regal quickly tags Punk back in to the match up. Punk goes after the ankle region with an inverted ankle lock. R-Truth is struggling to escape, but to no avail. Regal gets tagged in again and continues the onslaught targeted at the left leg of Truth. Punk gets tagged into the match and hits a scoop slam. Punk bounces off the ropes and goes for a leg drop, but Truth moves out of the way. This does not help Truth all that much in the end because Punk targets a quick dropkick to the leg and then tags Regal back into the match. Truth hits an enziguiri and then tags in Christian!

Christian comes barreling into the match up and connects with a tornado DDT on CM Punk. Christian takes to the second turnbuckle and leaps for a flying European Uppercut. Punk tries to go for the GTS, Christian counters into a Killswitch attempt, and Punk counters that! Christian is able to take Punk to the mat, but Regal comes in for the save. Back on his feet, Christian once again goes for the Killswitch, but Regal once again interrupts, this time to the tune of a kick to Christian’s face! This lets CM Punk set up the GTS to end the match!

Winners via GTS: CM Punk and William Regal

ECW Thoughts

You know what’s really awesome? The ECW Championship match this week on Survivor Series is going to be epic ? oh wait? there is no match. For the THIRD PPV in a row, the ECW Championship match will not be defended. I guess there is some comfort in the fact that Christian and William Regal are appearing on the PPV in the Survivor Series match, but quite frankly it is not that comforting. Once again the show was main evented with some of the competitors not even being from the brand. I don?t mind when such matches occur, they are refreshing and enjoyable, it is just off putting that WWE has to use the show to promote the other brands and not give the show its own PPV caliber storylines.

The show opened strong with Shelton and Ryder/Mendes in what has become a rather fun feud. The whole banter between Ryder and Mendes has actually become rather enjoyable. I?ll admit that I despised Rosa coming to ECW initially because it seemed pointless and without reason, but she is really making it work.

The Hurricane/Burchill feud is FINALLY over. In what has been called by yours truly as the longest short feud in the history of ever, Burchill has lost and will be headed off of ECW. I have to say that I don?t understand why Burchill and Katie looked so distraught in the ring after the match. They are moving from ECW to either RAW or Smackdown, must people would consider that an upgrade. I expect that the two of them will be getting split up. They hinted to this during the match with Burchill yelling at his sister in frustration. This move definitely benefits Katie Lea the most as she can finally get involved in some legit women’s wrestling matches .

Vance Archer shows up again to destroy another poor jobber, not much to comment on at the moment. They guy is getting the job done and is building himself up.

Anybody else think it odd that ECW is in Philly yet Tommy Dreamer wasn?t on the show or even mentioned?

Did CM Punk always have that much chest hair? I?ve never noticed it before but it was strikingly obvious tonight, just wondering?
