“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” – Joseph Campbell. The show kicks off with a video commemorating Memorial Day here in the United States of America.

Justin Roberts asks the crowd to welcome The Authority to the ring. Triple H’s music hits, and he comes out to the stage with his wife, one of the principal owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon. They come out to the ring smiling as the crowd boos them. Stephanie gets on the microphone, and she welcomes the crowd to a historic edition of Monday Night RAW. She feels great about this show because tonight is all about choices. For example, Daniel Bryan has the choice of whether to do the right thing and surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The crowd chants “YES,” and she agrees with them. She agrees it’s the right thing to do, and Bryan knows it as well. Bryan knows that he is their champion. They all believe in him. They want to see the WWE World Heavyweight Champion compete in the ring night in and night out, and the fact is that Bryan cannot do it. They didn’t want to be right on this. Bryan’s heart and mind is there, but unfortunately his body is a B+. She knows that Bryan, in spite of wanting to do all the right things, will personally surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The crowd loudly chants “NO!”

Triple H says he’s sure that Bryan doesn’t want to, he just can’t physical do it. Hopefully Bryan will make the right choice. Triple H says that every generation has performers that rise to the top and become superstars. Sometimes when they get there, they burn out and become a flash in the pan like Daniel Bryan. Then there are those that become legends because they stand the test of time. Month after month, year after year, and generation after generation they remain dominant because of their ability to adapt. The ones who don’t, like a Daniel Bryan, perish. The ones that last to become legends live in the hearts and minds of everyone forever, and that is Evolution. This Sunday, at the Payback PPV, The Shield will find out in a No Holds Barred Elimination Match that you cannot stop Evolution. Tonight, there will be a contract signing in this ring. The Shield will have a choice. They can adapt and decide not to show up at Payback and go on to become legends, or they can sign the contracts to compete against Evolution at Payback, and they can perish.

McMahon also brings up the matter of the General Manager Brad Maddox that needs to be addressed. McMahon then calls for Maddox to come out, and he sheepishly comes out to the ring. Triple H wants to explain the dilemma they have with him. Last week in Rollins’ match with Batista, he said that no one could be at ringside that wasn’t in an official capacity. He was the guest ring announcer, and Randy Orton was the guest timekeeper. That’s what was best for business. Then Maddox mad a choice that wasn’t best for business when he made Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns the guest commentators. Triple H tells him to explain himself. Maddox says The Shield forced him to make the decision. McMahon says she heard that Maddox was roughed up and that he didn’t have a choice, but right now they feel that they don’t have a choice…

Kane’s pyro explodes, and he makes his way to the ring. Maddox tries to quickly explain himself to Triple H and Stephanie. Triple H punches him down as Kane gets in the ring. Kane stands over Maddox and kicks him before slowly walking around him. Stephanie tells Kane to teach Maddox a lesson. Kane grabs him by the throat and gets him to his feet. Kane holds him for a few moments before giving him a Chokeslam. Kane then picks him up and gives him a Tombstone Piledriver. Kane then makes the ring posts explode with fire. Stephanie tells them to lower the music and bring the lights up. Stephanie says they didn’t get to finish their conversation with Maddox. She then says to Maddox, “You’re fired!” The Authority and Kane then leave the ring.

Medical personnel rush into the ring and put a neck brace on him. They get a stretcher out and prepare to bring him to the hospital.

Bray Wyatt will have a message for the entire Cenation later tonight on RAW.

Randy Orton and Batista are talking in Triple H’s office when Cody Rhodes and Goldust walk in. Rhodes says they’re not on the show just like last week. Rhodes says they came to tell Triple H that they’re issuing an open challenge to any tag team on the roster. Batista says the Triple H is busy. Orton says he beat Rhodes a year ago and got him fired. Rhodes says he remembers coming back with Goldust and beating The Shield to get their jobs back. The Shield is the same team that beat Evolution and will beat them again at the Payback PPV. Orton says it’s nice that Rhodes and his brother took advantage of that momentum. Rhodes says ten years ago they were Triple H’s glorified lap dogs, and they’re still the same thing ten years later. Triple H walks in and wonders what’s going on. Rhodes says they want action, and if that means facing the “skinny jeans sellout” and “RK-Blows,” then they’ll do it. Triple H grants them that match, but it won’t be any normal match. This will be interesting. Triple H asks if Orton and Batista are up for a workout. They say they are. “The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.” John F. Kennedy.

Bray Wyatt delivers a message to the Cenation

“Tennessee… we’re here.”

The Wyatt Family makes their way to the ring illuminated only by Bray Wyatt’s lantern and the cellphones of people in the crowd. It’s an amazing visual. Wyatt gets in the ring, and he sings, “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands.” Wyatt says those words have never been more true than they are right now. He truly has the whole world in his hands. The world has come to lean on me. It leans on him because it knows that somewhere deep down he only wants what’s best for them. Sometimes what’s best for us isn’t the easiest path. Everyone must make sacrifices in life. We go to work and break our backs just to keep our children fed. We also accept when someone tells us who to be and how to act. Wyatt says that’s all pointless. The poison has already set in, and the only way to cure it is with anti-venom. Wyatt asks the Knoxville crowd if he’s the snake or the cure. They cheer for cure. Wyatt says he knows what role he must play in the world. Wyatt says he is the necessary evil that the world needs. In the end, if you are his brother or sister, you will stand right beside him. If you’re his enemy, you will fall at his feet. It’s clear that John Cena is an enemy to us all. There’s a loud cheer with little boos for that. Wyatt says at Payback, he will be the Last Man Standing.

Why should Cena be the only man punished for all this corruption? He’s no fool. To get to the king, you must get through the pawns. Cena is the king. Speaking of kings, he wants to have a word with Jerry Lawler. Lawler looks confused. Wyatt says he doesn’t bite. Lawler turns him down. Wyatt says that’s unfortunate, and he sends Luke Harper and Erick Rowan to collect him. Wyatt says he wants to have a talk with Lawler. JBL tries to beg them off by mentioning Lawler has had a heart attack. Wyatt tells JBL to stay in his pretty little seat before calling him a coward. JBL get up and takes his jacket off. Harper clubs JBL in the back. Rowan then throws JBL into a clothesline from Harper!

Harper and Rowan surround Lawler, and Lawler slowly gets in the ring. Rowan gets a chair and puts it in the center of the ring. Wyatt invites Lawler to sit down before telling him not to be afraid. Wyatt says Lawler is good friends with Cena. Lawler doesn’t say anything. Wyatt says Lawler has helped John Cena become the hero he is today by sitting in that seat on commentary and talking about how great Cena is. Never once did Lawler ever question Cena’s morality. By doing so, Lawler has fed the poison, and now it is out of control. Wyatt asks if Lawler feels guilty about this. Wyatt asks if he feels remorse for destroying millions of lives in Cena’s corrupt name. Wyatt asks how it feels to be a liar. Wyatt asks if Lawler thought he could get away with all of this. Wyatt says he is very sorry it had to be Lawler, but this is that necessary evil. Harper and Rowan hold Lawler up, and Wyatt bends his back to look at him.

John Cena’s music hits, and he runs down to the ring. Cena clotheslines Harper and Rowan, but he’s soon taken down by them. Wyatt holds Lawler in the corner as Harper and Rowan hold Cena up and rip at his face. Wyatt puts his boot in Lawler’s face. Wyatt says he’s going to end Cena at Payback, but right now he wants him to watch his friend fall. Wyatt tells him that this is all Cena’s fault. Wyatt sets Lawler up for Sister Abigail, but The Usos run down to the ring. They kick Harper and Rowan down before taking them out of the ring. Cena takes Wyatt down, and he retreats from the ring with his “family.”

Cena says enough is enough. Cena says Wyatt has crossed some serious lines. When Wyatt first got here, he was excited, but now he’s different. Wyatt was intriguing and charismatic, but he needs to listen to himself. Wyatt just said that he’s a god. Abraham Lincoln said if you want to test a man’s character, you give him power. Wyatt has had some power, and now he’s sick. Wyatt just tried to take out an innocent man because he doesn’t agree with him. Cena says that isn’t a necessary evil. It’s just plain evil. Cena looks into the crowd before saying he believes in who he is and what he does. Cena believes, whether the family likes it or not, that Wyatt needs to be stopped. Payback isn’t about winning or losing. It’s about being the Last Man Standing. Wyatt has accused him of living a lie, but now he wants to punish innocent people for what he believes in. Cena says he’s bringing him to justice at Payback. Cena says justice may be blind, but for Wyatt, Payback will be a bitch. Cena’s music plays as Wyatt laughs and kneels at the foot of the ramp in front of his family.

Will Daniel Bryan surrender his WWE World Heavyweight Championship? We’ll find out later tonight. Evolution and The Shield will also have a contract signing for their match at WWE Payback.

To forge an elite society, you must have progressive visions, just like Vladimir Putin. Putin’s face is shown on the titantron as the crowd chants “USA.” Lana says Americans are pathetic. Those who aren’t willing to move forward are simply embarrassing patriots. They will require disciplinary action to its highest level. Compliance with Mother Russia and her super-athlete is not a choice. It’s their future. Lana tells them to behold their destiny.

Coming up next, we’ll see if Daniel Bryan will surrender his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

-Commercial Break-

The Usos will take on Luke Harper and Erick Rowan on WWE Main Event, exclusively on the WWE Network.

Replays are shown from earlier in the night when The Authority had Kane attack Brad Maddox. After Kane laid him out, Stephanie McMahon fired Maddox.

Daniel Bryan chooses whether to surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Stephanie McMahon’s music hits, and she makes her way to the ring. McMahon says earlier tonight she talked about how tonight would be a night of choices. She and Triple H also talked about how important it is to have an active WWE World Heavyweight Champion. So without further adieu, before they can make any announcement about who that champion might be, they need Daniel Bryan to do the right thing. McMahon says it’s time.

Daniel Bryan’s music hits, and the crowd gives him a tremendous reception as he makes his way to the ring smiling. Bryan is wearing a neck collar as the crowd loudly chants, “YES!” McMahon says it’s so great to see Bryan standing here doing so well on what must be a long road to recovery. McMahon says she could just strip him of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship right now, but that would make him a martyr, and the people cheer him enough anyhow. That being said, all kidding aside, it’s really important for the people to hear from him why he knows this is the right decision. The people deserves an active champion and epic championship matches, and he just cannot give it to them. Bryan isn’t a selfish man, so he needs to do the right thing for the people and surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Bryan says becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania XXX was the payoff to years of hard work and sacrifice, but Stephanie McMahon is right. It’s with a heavy heart that he announces that the injury to his neck is worse than he thought. It’s partly due to a demon that McMahon claims she has no control over, but from what we saw earlier tonight she’s a liar. McMahon says no one is lying about his condition. Bryan says he acknowledges that there is no shame in handing over the title, healing, and coming back stronger to become champion again. McMahon personally guarantees him another shot at the title. Bryan sarcastically says he’d love to do it all over again. Bryan says there is no shame in handing the title over because the people deserve an awesome WWE World Heavyweight Champion. McMahon tried to put this on him, but it’s not about him. It’s about her. She has wanted to strip him of the title ever since he beat her husband and won the title at WrestleMania XXX. The crowd loudly cheers. Bryan says she isn’t doing this for the fans. She’s doing it for herself. Bryan says it would negate everything he fought for if he just hands the titles to her. It would negate anytime someone chanted “YES” because The Authority didn’t give them what they wanted. It would be throwing it back in their face. The crowd chants, “YES!”

Bryan says he’s going to tell her a word that she’s not used to hearing. It’s a word she probably never heard, even as a child. Does McMahon want him to hand over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Bryan gets in her face and screams, “NO!” over an over again. The crowd loudly follows along with him.

McMahon says she knew he’d let his ego get in the way of good common sense. Bryan is letting the people and his injury mess with his brain. She wanted to be extra sensitive about his condition, but two weeks ago, when he was getting loaded into the ambulance, his wife, Brie Bella, put her hands on her. A replay is then shown of Brie Bella shoving Stephanie McMahon from two weeks ago. Bryan is seen smiling, and McMahon says you cannot put your hands on the boss. She’s not only Brie’s boss, she’s Bryan’s boss. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, only in this case, the equal reaction doesn’t measure up. McMahon is going to give Bryan one more chance to do the right thing. This Sunday at WWE Payback, Bryan will decide if he’ll surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship or if she’ll take action against his wife and make her fired! McMahon’s music hits, and she leaves the ring as Bryan looks torn.

Evolution and The Shield will have a contract signing later tonight. The commentators wonder if this is the last time the two teams will be in the same ring at the same time on RAW.

-Commercial Break-

Evolution and The Shield have a contract signing for WWE Payback

Michael Cole is in the ring to announce the contract signing. The ring is decorated with a black carpet. In the center is a conference table with three chairs on each side. The Shield makes their way to the ring. Dean Ambrose then takes the microphone away from Michael Cole, and Cole leaves the ring. Ambrose says tonight is historic because it’s the last time you’ll see The Shield and Evolution in the same ring on RAW. Roman Reigns begins throwing the chairs out of the ring. Ambrose says at Payback one team won’t just be eliminated from a match. Evolution will be eliminated out of this business forever. Seth Rollins asks who they’re really kidding with this nonsense. This issue has gone way past them sitting across a table from one another signing a silly piece of paper. Rollins says it’s time to rearrange this place and get down to business. Ambrose and Reigns finish throwing the chairs out, and Reigns throws the table out as well.

Rollins goes to sign the contract in the center of the ring, but Evolution’s music hits. Triple H says he wants everybody to be aware of what they’re witnessing. Triple H says if they sign that contract, it’s the last time you’ll ever see The Shield on Monday Night RAW. Triple H says it’s a shame. The Shield could have had it all. He’s a fair judge of talent, and you only have to look at the two guys next to him to know that. Triple H remembers looking at The Shield while the ink dried on the contract that allowed them to live their dream. Triple H remembers thinking that these guys could have changed it all. They’re the future of the WWE, and they threw it all away. Ironically, he’s going to watch the ink dry on the contract that will send them back to obscurity this Sunday at Payback.

Triple H asks them again if they want to sign it and ensure that Sunday is the last they’ll see of The Shield. Rollins opens up the contract, and he signs it. Ambrose signs it, and then Reigns does. Reigns tosses the contract at Triple H’s feet, who is standing at ringside with Randy Orton and Batista. Triple H signs it, Orton signs it, and then Batista signs it. The match is official.

Triple H says The Shield will be nothing but a statistic. Reigns tells him to shut up and get in the ring to fight. Triple H throws his microphone away, and Evolution gets on the apron. The Shield prepares for a fight. The take some time before getting in the ring. A giant brawl breaks out between Evolution and The Shield! Triple H goes for a Pedigree on Ambrose, but he’s given a back body drop over the top rope. Rollins then counters an RKO by throwing Orton out of the ring. Rollins then takes Triple H and Orton out with a rolling senton over the top rope! Ambrose turns into a clothesline from Batista. Reigns then takes Batista out with a Superman Punch!

Reigns sets up for a spear, but Triple H hits him in the midsection with a sledgehammer. Ambrose and Rollins attack Triple H, but Orton soon drops Rollins with an RKO. Batista then spears Ambrose down. Reigns struggles to his feet as Triple H waits with the sledgehammer. Triple H then hits him in the face with the sledgehammer, and Reigns falls out of the ring. Triple H takes Ambrose and Rollins out with sledgehammer shots while Orton and Batista take apart the commentary table. They take their time before hitting a Triple Powerbomb on Reigns through the table! Evolution stands over him with a satisfied look on their faces.

Replays are shown of what just happened. The show ends with Evolution doing The Shield’s fist together taunt with the head of the sledgehammer in the center.
