World Wrestling Entertainment results from the RAW broadcast at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL, on January 19: Randy Orton won a battle royal over Kane, Ted DiBiase, Jr., Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, and Santino Marella; Beth Phoenix over Kelly Kelly; CM Punk over William Regal to win the WWE Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title; a contract was signed to have John Cena defend the WWE World Heavyweight Title against JBL at Royal Rumble, ending with JBL and Shawn Michaels going after Cena and leaving him laying in the ring; Rey Mysterio, Jr., over Mike Knox by disqualification; the ???fired??? Chris Jericho returned and told Stephanie McMachon he was going to plead his case to Vince McMahon later in the show; Cryme Tyme over John Morrison & the Miz; Melina over Jillian; Vince McMahon returned and listened to Jericho, who held nothing back insulting McMahon??’s daughter, after which they brought Stephanie out ??? Vince left it up to Stephanie as to whether Jericho would be ???re-hired???, and she made him apologize not only to her but the fans, also, which he reluctantly did on his knees, at which time he was ???reinstated???; as Vince and Stephanie shared a hug, Randy Orton came out and demanded an apology from Stephanie for her slapping him in the face earlier, and he told Vince he was more important to the company that her, calling her worthless ??? Stephanie walked out, and and angry Vince confronted Orton and demanded his own apology for what he has done for Orton and his family, or be fired on the spot ??? Orton called Vince??’s bluff, and was about to be fired, but he attacked McMahon before he could say it, and afterward was in shock over what he had done; EMTs came to the ring to assist McMahon from the ring, while Stephanie looked on in tears, and Orton left.
The lineup for tonight??’s ECW broadcast on Sci-Fi, from WWE, is as follows: Matt Hardy talks about brother Jeff??’s ???injuries??? from the pryo incident, and is joined by Jack Swagger; Ricky Ortiz versus Adam Evans; Paul Burchill demands a match with D.J. We received word from NWA Prime Time promoter Billy Roper that the group is now on hiatus. After canceling last Friday??’s event due to weather-related concerns, Roper says no further shows will be scheduled until he finds a new location to house events. ???Thanks to all the fans that have supported us, to all the wrestlers that have given their best, and to the other promoters that have supported us in our efforts to entertain the fans,??? Roper wrote in an email.
We have received word that Championship Wrestling Overload??’s event, planned for January 23 at the Barn in Tennille, GA, has been cancelled due to a conflict with the venue.
