TNA Impact Wrestling Results
New York City, New York (Manhattan Center)
January 7, 2015
Commentators: Josh Matthews & Taz
Report by: Josh Boutwell of Wrestleview.com

We are back! Impact Wrestling is back on TV and you’re favorite neighborhood recapper is back on the job as well as Impact debuts on Destination America! Impact opens up with a brand new opening video with rap theme and everything. Several of the roster members are shown hyping each other in the back including The Revolution, Bobby Roode, and MVP’s boys. Roode and Lashley come face to face with each other as the roster arrives at the Manhattan Center on buses. A huge brawl starts and it ends up spilling into the arena. I see The Wolves, Magnus, MVP, The Revolution, Hardy Boyz, Lashley, Samoa Joe, Roode, and even the knockouts among others. The crowd is pretty hot for the brawl chanting “TNA” and “this is awesome.” Some guy is helping Manik beat up Jeff Hardy and I have no clue who he is. He’s wearing pretty generic blue tights. Joe and Abyss fight into the crowd while the knockouts are braling up in a balcony along with Crazzy Steve and Robbie E of Bro-Mans. Kurt Angle’s music hits and he walks onto the stage.

Angle demands that security gets things in order and Angle says this is NYC and this is Impact Wrestling and he knows everyone wants to see a fight tonight. He asks the fans if they want to see this fight continue. Angle asks where Low-Ki is and when he finds him he says that Ki will defend the X-Division Title tonight! Angle locates Taryn Terrell and says she too will defend her title tonight! Angle looks out at Storm & Abyss and says they will defend their belts too! Angle says every title is on the line tonight as he reminds us Roode defends against Lashley in the finale of their epic trilogy! Angle tells Roode that he expects his match to be Match of the Year and so does he.

Angle says he has one more important announcement to make right now but MVP interrupts him and asks if he is going to announce to all of TNA’s new viewers on Destination America how Angle assaulted him last time we were on Impact. The fans chant “shut the f*ck up” at him. MVP says the proper way to show disrespect to someone in NYC is to turn your back on someone so he turns his back on Angle and dares Angle to hit him again. MVP says he knows Angle went to the Board of Directors because he was scared to lose his job and begged for his job. MVP says Angle is a shadow of the man he once was and he says that he remembers the Kurt Angle that used to tap people out and that people were afraid of. MVP says that 1996 Kurt Angle was an Olympic Gold Medalist, but 2015 Kurt Angle wears a suit and has no balls. MVP says Kurt is no longer a professional wrestler and says he is done.

Angle says that he has stepped down from his position after he booked tonight’s card and 15 minutes ago he was activated as a wrestler on the roster! Angle says the final thing he books is Angle vs. MVP in a Street Fight and it starts now! Angle decks MVP!

Street Fight
“Olympic Hero” Kurt Angle vs. MVP

Angle clotheslines MVP over the top rope and the crowd is going nuts!

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

MVP hits a Yakuza Kick on Angle, both are still in street clothes by the way, and then hits a Shortarm Clothesline. MVP goes for a German Suplex but Angle counters into a rollup for a nearfall. Angle follows up with the Rolling German Suplexes! MVP counters into a Fujiwara Armbar but Angle counters back into a headscissors. MVP fights out of it and attempts a clothesline but Angle ducks and connects with the Rolling German Suplexes! Angle goes for the Olympic Slam but MVP blocks it and rolls Angle into a Kneebar! Angle gets to the ropes to break the hold, even though this is a street fight, and then MVP drags Angle’s leg to the turnbuckle and slams it into ring post repeatedly. MVP pulls out a chair and slams it across Angle’s knee as it was lying across the ring steps! MVP stomps on Angle’s knee and tosses him back in the ring where he covers Angle for a series of nearfalls. MVP goes for a Powerbomb but Angle counters with a backdrop, but MVP attempts a rollup but Angle rolls through and locks in the Angle Lock! MVP rolls over and pulls MVP down into a Side Armtrap Choke! Angle rolls MVP over and goes back to the Angle Lock again! The fans chant for MVP to tap but he is able to use his legs to send Angle into the turnbuckles. MVP attempts a Running Mafia Kick but Angle ducks and hits the Olympic Slam for the pin!

Winner: Angle via pinfall (Olympic Slam)

The fans chant “you still got it” aimed at Angle.

In the back Low-Ki is shown warming up and then cut to James Storm firing up The Revolution and Taryn Terrell warming up as well. Bobby Roode is shown getting ready in his locker room.

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

In the back MVP is freaking out about his loss and asking where Kenny King where the hell he was. King says he was “with the girls” and MVP asks where Lashley was as well and says that Lashley needs to be reminded how he became champion in the first place.

Mathews and Taz hype up the rest of the show from the announce booth. As they speak cameras are shown all around the backstage area including even at the Gorilla Position. EC3 and Tyrus approach a camera and shove Crazzy Steve away. EC3 bitches about how he has not been featured once this week yet. EC3 says that he and Tyrus were just speaking about New Years Resolutions and his resolution was that he was going to tear Rockstar Spud piece by piece. EC3 tells Tyrus to “secure his target.”

Mathews talks about accepting the reigns from Mike Tenay as he steps down from the lead announce spot on Impact. In the back Mike Tenay says that he will be hosting “TNA Unlocked” every week on Destination America. He cuts to a sit down interview with James Storm he did today which he says will be featured on “Unlocked.” Tenay says that he never saw this Revolution from Storm coming and Storm laughs and says “exactly if I can fool even the great professor then everyone else is smooth failing.” Storm says everytime management gave him something he knocked it out of the park but management has not fulfilled their part for him so he has come to collect. Storm says his members of the Revolution have seen the light and they know he will be the one to speak the truth to them. Storm says The Revolution isn’t here for wrestling matches or for entertaining the fans, they are there for blood. Storm asks if Tenay’s mother warned him about the devil and says that she should have warned him about Storm.

TNA World Tag Team Championships
The Revolution (c) w/The Great Sanada & Manik vs. The Wolves

The Hardy Boyz come to ringside for this match. They have earned a future title shot. It looks like Davey is finally healthy again. He is rocking a new tattoo on his chest of a wolf scratch, well that is dedication to your team right there.

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

If I have to see that Salt ‘n’ Pepa commercial one more time I might lose my mind. Am I the only one that loves that Treehouse Masters show though? I digress.

Richards and Storm start the match off against each other and Davey ducks a clothesline from Storm and kicks Abyss off the apron! Eddie comes in and he tosses Storm into a backdrop from Davey as he sends Storm over the top onto Abyss on the floor! The Wolves then hit four back-to-back-to-back-to-back Double Suicide Dives onto Abyss & Storm on the floor! Back in the ring Eddie hits a series of Mafia Kicks on the Revolution but Abyss catches him with a knee and then Eddie comes back with an Enziguri on Abyss! Storm attempts a German Suplex on Eddie but are ducks it and hits Storm with a leaping Enziguri and then a Backpack Jawbreaker! Abyss grabs Eddie by the throat and then Davey dives off the top and Abyss catches him by the throat! Abyss attempts a Double Chokeslam but then counter by backflipping onto their feet as I realize both members of the Wolves have the claw marks on their chest. Eddie hits a Backstabber on Storm and then holds Storm in place as Davey dives off the top with a Ghetto Stomp for a nearfall! Manik distracts Davey and then Storm knocks him off the apron and Abyss catapults Eddie into a DDT from Storm for a nearfall! Davey comes back in with kicks and elbows on The Revolution and then attempts a Backspring Elbow but Abyss catches him in the Shock Treatment! Eddie hits Abyss with a Sliding Superkick and then sets up for something but Sanada trips him as Manik distracts the referee. The Hardy Boyz come out and attack Sanada & Manik! Abyss knocks Matt out of the ring and then Jeff pulls the cowbell away from Abyss but accidentally hits Eddie in the process sending him right into a Last Call from Storm for the pin!

Winners & STILL Tag Champs: The Revolution via pinfall (Last Call)

Davey is shown starring The Hardy Boyz and The Revolution down.

A video package highlights the Roode-Lashley feud.

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

In the back MVP is shown arguing with Lashley saying that without him Lashley wouldn’t have even came back to TNA or been the World Champion. He says that he runs this squad but Lashley shoves MVP against the wall. King tries to stop him but Lashley just stares at him and King backs down. Lashley says this isn’t about MVP, it is about getting his title back. MVP says if that is how it’s going to be then “good luck tonight” and walks out.

JB talks to the crowd in the ring about this being the first episode of Impact on Destination America and then starts to introduce someone but EC3 interrupts him. EC3 says it is 2015 the year of “our lord of wrestling…EC3!” He says what he says is gospel so when he says that he is very good, it is a fact. He reminds us that he has been unbeaten for 15 months and he says that 2015 will be the year he becomes TNA World Champion. EC3 says that before he starts his quest to become TNA Champion he has a piece of business to take care of first. EC3 talks about slapping JB last year and says he is glad he is out here. Dueling “you can’t wrestle/yes he can” chants start up. EC3 says that he made a promise to Rockstar Spud that he would take him apart piece by piece so he plans on finishing it this week. He tells Spud to get out to the ring.

Tyrus drags Spud out to the ring and Spud tries to fight back but Tyrus slams the hell out of Spud on the floor. EC3 says that tonight he finishes the job and then pulls out a clipper and says that last time he took just a little bit of his hair, but not this time. JB asks EC3 if he doesn’t think he’s done enough and EC3 tells him to stand down. JB backs away but then slaps the piss out of EC3! Tyrus grabs JB by the neck and destroys him with a Splash in the corner! Spud lays across JB to protect him and EC3 says he just changed his plans for the night. Tyrus pulls Spud away and makes Spud watch as EC3 shaves JB’s head!

King and MVP talk about what just happened with Lashley and King says that they are boys and they don’t ever put their hands on each other. MVP says it’s time they go back to playing by their own rules tonight. He talks about a plan that King and he started awhile back and says that it is time to act on that. King smiles as they walk away.
