Update on WWE changing to new logo, championship belts

As reported on earlier, WWE will be officially changing over to a new logo starting at the SummerSlam PPV on 8/17 in Los Angeles. It will be the same logo the company has been using for the WWE Network since the launch back in February.

Another change is that all championship belts in the company will be updated to feature the new logo including the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Since last December, the champion had been carrying around the updated WWE Championship belt and the “big gold” World Heavyweight Championship belt. It appears that both will be consolidated into one new belt as John Cena handing the World Heavyweight Championship belt to Ric Flair on RAW this past Monday may have been the company’s way of quietly retiring it. Cena did have both belts at last night’s 7/19 WWE Supershow in Tallahassee.
