“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
A video kicks off the show that features the events from last week’s RAW main event. The Shield were facing off against eleven men when Evolution, consisting of Triple H, Batista, and Randy Orton made their way out to the ring to pick the scraps. On Smackdown, Triple H said Evolution would return at Extreme Rules to face The Shield.
Daniel Bryan’s music hits, and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion makes his way to the stage. Bryan has tears in his eyes as he looks toward the sky in honor of his recently deceased father. Brie Bella, Bryan’s new wife, is in the ring doing a YES taunt. Bryan looks to the sky and says, “Thank you” before getting in the ring. Bryan stands side by side with his wife, and they do the YES chant. They then embrace in the center of the ring.
Stephanie McMahon’s music hits, and she comes down to the ring smiling and clapping for the new couple. McMahon says she couldn’t resist the chance to come out here and congratulate them. She’d be chanting “YES” as well. At WrestleMania XXX, Bryan became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and then in the same week, he married the love of his life in what was an organic, crunchy, rustic wedding. She saw the pictures online, and they were breathtaking, if you’re into that kind of thing. Because WWE is a family, they wanted to get them a wedding present. It’s not a traditional wedding present because they’re anything but traditional. At Extreme Rules, Bryan will be defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against the Devil’s Favorite Demon, Kane. We all know that Kane in demon form is somewhat uncontrollable and unstoppable. Since Kane said he wanted to eviscerate Bryan last week, she suggests that he get his pretty little wife out of the way.
Kane’s pyro explodes on the stage, and McMahon yells that now is not the right time or place. Kane has not come out to the stage yet. McMahon orders him to stay where he is. Bryan and Brie leave the ring and stand by the commentary table. Bryan turns, and Kane appears next to him wearing his old mask and attire, and he grabs Bryan by the throat. They exchange punches, and Kane takes him down with an uppercut. Kane turns his attention to Brie Bella, who falls down. Bryan attacks him from behind, but Kane soon picks him up by the throat and throws him down. Bryan counters back by giving Kane a drop-toe-hold into the barricade. Bryan dives off the apron onto Kane, but he’s caught. Kane then drives him into the barricade. Kane then gives him a Tombstone Piledriver on the floor! The whole time McMahon was yelling at Kane to stop.
Kane then takes the top part of the steel steps and tosses them away. Kane grabs Bryan and brings him toward the lower half of the steps. Kane then gives Bryan a Tombstone Piledriver on the steel steps! McMahon yells for EMTs to come to the ring. WWE doctors are soon at Bryan’s side checking on him. A “Daniel Bryan” chant breaks out as Kane walks to the back. EMTs put Bryan in a neck brace and on a stretcher. Kane then comes down and tips the stretcher over. Kane rips the neck brace off and drags him to the commentary table. Kane begins to viciously rip the contents off the table. McMahon is screaming for him to stop. Kane then puts Bryan on top of the table and gets on top. Michael Cole is screaming for someone to do something. Kane then gives Bryan a third Tombstone Piledriver on top of the commentary table!
McMahon looks at the carnage and says, “Kane, you bastard!” Kane slowly walks off as EMTs rush back to Bryan’s side and reapply the neck brace.
We come back from the break to see EMTs putting an unconscious Daniel Bryan onto a stretcher. Brie Bella is at her husband’s side. Stephanie McMahon stands in the ring holding Bryan’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship. McMahon then asks the crowd to give Bryan a warm round of applause. She said that very disingenuously. They show replays of the assault Kane just inflicted on Bryan.
They show the bracket for the WWE Intercontinental Championship Tournament. Tonight, we’ll see Rob Van Dam take on Cesaro, and Sheamus take on Wade Barrett in the semi-finals.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Tournament Semi-Final Match
Bad News Barrett vs. Sheamus
As Bad News Barrett comes to the ring, he says he’s afraid he’s got some bad news. It’s not as bad as Daniel Bryan’s news, but it’s still bad. Shamrocks and lucky charms aren’t going to work here tonight. The luck of the Irish is running out. This isn’t St. Patrick’s Day. This is the day that Sheamus is defeated by him, Bad News Barrett!
They circle the ring, and Barrett kicks and clubs him to start the match off. Barrett kicks him in the corner before the referee backs him up. Sheamus comes back with some kicks and clubs of his own before putting him in the corner. Sheamus chokes him on the ropes before giving him a forearm to the face. Sheamus whips him to the opposite corner and gets him on his shoulders for a rolling fireman’s carry. Sheamus goes to the top rope, and Barrett cuts him off. Barrett goes for a superplex, but Sheamus fights him off. Barrett gets on the apron, and Sheamus boots him off. Sheamus then takes him out with a top rope cross-body block to the outside! Sheamus celebrates at ringside before throwing Barrett into the ring. Sheamus goes for the Ten Beats of the Bodhrán, but Barrett fights out. Sheamus goes for White Noise, but Barrett elbows out and sends him face first into the turnbuckle. Barrett goes for The Wasteland, but Sheamus gets out. Barrett ducks a Brogue Kick and connects with the Winds of Change, but Sheamus kicks out! Barrett looks frustrated. Barrett pulls his elbow pad down and sets up in the corner. Sheamus ducks the Bull Hammer, but he soon runs into Barrett’s boot. Barrett goes to the second rope, and Sheamus rips him off the ropes and connects with White Noise for a near fall! Sheamus cannot believe Barrett kicked out of that.
They’re both on their knees, and they begin to trade punches. They get to their feet, and Sheamus gets the advantage with the punches. Barrett misses a clothesline, and Sheamus hits the ropes. Sheamus connects with a running cross-body block, and they both fly over the top rope and land roughly on the floor! Barrett’s back has a ton of welts on it. Sheamus puts Barrett in the ring as the crowd chants, “This is awesome!” Barrett kicks Sheamus away and gets out of the ring. Sheamus goes for a suicide dive, but Barrett connects with the Bull Hammer Elbow! Barrett gets in the ring, and he covers Sheamus for the win!

Bray Wyatt addresses John Cena
The Wyatt Family’s video flashes on the screen, and they appear on the stage. Bray Wyatt says he remembers the first time he was ever struck with truth. The taste was bitter and so intense, but he liked it. Wyatt laughs as he says it was something real. Free will has become man’s biggest illusion. They promise it to you before they take it away from you. What have they left us with? What have we become? Just a nation full of mindless sheep led by wolves and owned by pigs. Wyatt was thinking tonight could be a wonderful night for change. Wyatt laughs as he paces the stage. Wyatt says he was thinking that tonight, they have left the power in the fans’ hands. Tonight, free will exists. Tonight, they will make a choice. What fate will they choose for their knight in shining armor? Will they choose the path of less pain or is tonight the night John Cena learns the truth?
The truth is they stand against him. Whether it is this brother or that brother. Whether it’s in a steel cage, they are against him. At Extreme Rules, two monsters will enter the cage. On this night, it won’t matter which monster has the sharpest teeth or the longest claws. One thing will remain the same: they do not love you anymore, John. Wyatt asks if they feel like he does, and the crowd responds favorably. Every time he crosses paths with Cena, he takes more brothers and sisters with him. The crowd is cheering this. Wyatt tells Cena to listen as they sing with him. Wyatt sings, “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands,” and the arena sings along with him. Wyatt laughs and screams for them to feel with him. Wyatt kneels on the stage and extends his arms smiling.

A replay is shown of Evolution beating up The Shield on RAW last week.
Backstage, a stretch limousine is seen driving into the arena. The door opens, and Batista comes out followed by Triple H and Randy Orton. Evolution will be out, next.
Evolution talks about their reformation and The Shield
Evolution makes their way to the ring consisting of Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista. All three men are wearing business attire. Orton is the only one without a tie. The crowd is warmly receiving Evolution for the most part. Triple H says he laughs every time he thinks about it. His voice is extremely hoarse tonight. Imagine what it feels like. Imagine telling the whole world that you were the baddest guys on the planet every week, and then one day your daddy comes out and spanks you in front of the whole world. That’s humiliating and humbling, and it’s just the beginning. Randy Orton says it sometimes takes a single spark to set the world on fire. In this case, it was one careless act by The Shield that set into motion the gears of their destruction. That led to the reformation of the most dominant, fearsome group ever: Evolution. A video package then plays highlighting Evolution’s past. There wasn’t any mention of Ric Flair, though.
Back to live action, Batista asks if they get it. Batista says there is thirty-one World Titles between the three of them. The Shield has absolutely no idea what they’ve gotten themselves into. Batista says, “Deal with that.”
The Shield’s music hits, and they make their way to the ring through the crowd to a great reception. Evolution leaves the ring as The Shield gets in the ring. Dean Ambrose says last week wasn’t the first time they were beaten up, and it won’t be the last. Ambrose said they did a real number on them. Ambrose has a question for Triple H: do they look humbled to him? Ambrose says there is a reason Triple H hired them to protect him and his creampuff Randy Orton. Everyone knows they are the meanest, nastiest, dirtiest, most ruthless animals in the industry. The dogs are hungry and angry.
Seth Rollins says Ambrose is angry, and he has every right to be after what Evolution did. Evolution and twelve other guys. For Batista to say that they have no idea what they’ve gotten themselves into – they have every idea since they started this. Rollins will give them some reality. Evolution doesn’t want to fight right now. They talk about how powerful they are and how they were built for dominance. They aren’t, though. In two weeks, they’ll come face to face with the Hounds of Justice, and it will be an all-out war. When push comes to shove, they won’t look for Evolution. Randy Orton will look out for himself. Batista has a lot of Hollywood obligations, so he’ll be looking out for himself. As for Triple H, he’ll do what he always does. He’ll do what’s best for the boss. What they’re looking at is the most dominant force in the history of this company. In two week at Extreme Rules, they’ll rip them to pieces. This little reunion that they’re so proud of will come to an abrupt halt. When Triple H made the match, he put a nail in his own coffin. At Extreme Rules, they’ll be the hammers that drive it home.
Roman Reigns takes the microphone. He talks about how they gave them an ultimatum last week, so he has one for them. In a few moments, he’s going to drop the microphone, and they’ll come up the ramp to beat their asses. They have two options: they can try to fight, or they can be creampuffs and try to hide. The Shield begins to come up the ramp when the eleven men from last week’s main event come out to stand by Evolution. Triple H says there is always an option three. In life, you either adapt or perish. That is Evolution. The Shield stands back and yells at them as Triple H smiles back.
Replays are shown of Kane’s assault on Daniel Bryan earlier in the night. Kane gave him three Tombstone Piledrivers: one on the floor, one on the steel steps, and one on the commentary table. Michael Cole says Bryan was sent to a hospital in Baltimore. He’s going through an examination of his neck.
Pick John Cena’s opponent for later tonight. Will John Cena face Luke Harper in a singles match, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a handicap match, or The Wyatt Family in a three-on-one match.
A vignette airs for the coming of Adam Rose and the Exotic Express.
Michael Cole, JBL, and Jerry “The King” Lawler talk about WWE Network’s “Best of Hall of Fame” show starting tomorrow night.
Ryback and Curtis Axel will be on commentary for the next match.
Jimmy and Jey Uso vs. Cody Rhodes and Goldust
Jey Uso will start the match against Goldust. They slap hands and circle the ring. They lock up, and Goldust applies a side headlock. Jey whips him off, and Goldust hits a shoulder block. Goldust hits the ropes and hits an inverted atomic drop before hitting a pair of arm drags. Jey hits an arm drag of his own and gets the crowd going. Goldust shoves him, and Jey shoves him back. Rhodes fights up, and Jimmy goes for a back suplex, but Rhodes flips through and uppercuts him. Goldust is tagged back in, and Jimmy hits an arm drag. Jey tags in, and he gives a sledge to Goldust’s arm. Goldust wrenches the arm and slams it off the mat a few times. Goldust applies an arm bar before Jey whips him off. Jey gives Goldust a back body drop, and Rhodes, who blind tagged in, tries to roll him up, but Jimmy blind tagged in as well. Rhodes blocks a kick from Jey, and Jey gets out and superkicks Goldust. Jimmy then superkicks Rhodes as he goes for Cross Rhodes on Jey, and they pick up they win.

Renee Young is backstage with John Cena. Renee says the odds could be severely against Cena tonight. She asks how he feels. Cena says his fate lies in the hands of the WWE Universe tonight. Bray Wyatt told everyone tonight that they have a voice. Tonight, they’ll see if the fans do listen to Wyatt. Cena has always respected the fact that the WWE Universe can do whatever they want. If they want him to fight the Wyatt Family, then that’s what he’ll do. A “Let’s Go Cena – Cena Sucks” chant breaks out. Cena says ever since WrestleMania XXX, he’s heard the same song over and over again – “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands.” Cena says Wyatt just might. If the WWE Universe votes him down a path of certain punishment by facing all three members of the Wyatt Family, then his back is against the wall. If he makes it through, in two weeks a steel cage will make sure things are equal. Cena says tonight the world is in Wyatt’s hands, but whenever you come at him, you can try to put him down, but you can’t count him out.
