“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

The legacy of the King of the Ring Tournament is highlighted. It showcases past winners, such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Bret Hart, Edge, and Harley Race. The tournament returns tonight after a long hiatus.

The RAW video plays, and we’re brought into the arena with a big pyrotechnics display. Michael Cole, Booker T, and JBL welcome us to the show. The King of the Ring bracket is shown. Dolph Ziggler will face Bad News Barrett, R-Truth will face Stardust, Sheamus will face Dean Ambrose, and Neville will face Luke Harper in the quarterfinals.

Seth Rollins gloats about his victory at WWE Extreme Rules

Eden Stiles asks the crowd to welcome the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to the ring. Rollins makes his way to the ring smiling and waving at the crowd as they boo. J&J Security and Kane accompany him. Kane was the gatekeeper in the main event last night at Extreme Rules. Rollins beat Randy Orton to retain his title in a cage match last night. The crowd is loudly booing Rollins. Rollins says, “Finally, finally last night ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton learned what the entire WWE Universe has known for a very long time: you cannot outsmart Seth Rollins.” Rollins reminds them that he is the man that single-handedly built the most dominant faction in WWE history, The Shield. He also single-handedly destroyed it. Rollins also reminds them that he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at the most opportune time in the main event of WrestleMania when he beat Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Last night, he proved what kind of champion he’s going to be: a fighting and valiant champion. Orton thought he had Rollins where he wanted him in the cage, but he had Orton right where he wanted him. The crowd chants, “You suck.” Orton wanted him all by himself, and he beat Orton all by himself. Kane has a perplexed look on his face. Rollins says he ripped Orton apart mentally and physically. He had the advantage before the match even started by taking away the RKO. In his victory, he added the ultimate insult: he hit Orton with an SKO out of nowhere! Rollins thinks he’s clever with the SKO thing.

Rollins says every great general needs good soldiers, and he wants to take a moment to thank the best soldier of them all: Kane. The crowd boos that as Kane offers a strained smirk. Kane did what was best for business in his role as the crypt-keeper… Rollins then laughs and says the crypt-keeper is an old relic from the 1990s that no one cares about anymore. Kane is the gatekeeper and did his job so well while more talented people did the job in the ring. Kane says there was no offense taken. Kane says if it weren’t for his actions as the gatekeeper and Rollins’ illegal use of the RKO, Randy Orton would be champion now. Instead of coming out and bragging and boasting, Rollins would be finger pointing and whining like the spoiled little brat he is. Kane says, “You see, Seth, I would much rather be the WWE version of the crypt-keeper than the WWE version of Justin Bieber. Whoops, did I say that out loud?” Rollins says Kane is just jealous of him because he’s champion. Rollins says Kane should just go home. Kane says, “You’re scared because you know that you wouldn’t be champion if you didn’t have six guys helping you out.” Rollins says he’s not afraid of Kane and can wrestle circles around him.

Randy Orton’s music hits, and he comes out to the stage. Orton says he’s not the kind of guy that would come out and complain about someone cheating to win, but a man in Rollins’ own administration goes on record to say he cheated to win last night, that sounds like grounds for a rematch. Rollins says that is not what Kane said. This isn’t the Kane regime or the Orton regime – this is his time. It’s the Rollins regime. As long as he’s champion, Orton only gets one crack at the title, and he squandered it last night. Orton says, “Shut up, Catwoman, I ain’t talking to you. I’m talking to Kane.” Kane begins to say that Orton has a point…

…But he’s interrupted by Roman Reigns’ music. Reigns makes his way to the ring through the crowd to a decent reception. Reigns stands on the commentary table and poses for the crowd. Rollins wants to know what Reigns is doing out here. Reigns says he’ll tell him why he’s out there if he’ll shut the hell up. Reigns says Rollins is missing his giant because he speared him through a table like the one he’s standing on. Then he flipped another table on top of him, so Rollins can call him the Last Man Standing. Reigns says, “I’ve got to say with all due respect, Randy, you had your shot, man. So Kane, if anyone deserves a match against Seth Rollins or Justin Bieber, whatever we’re calling him today, for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (a Justin Bieber chant breaks out)… it’s me.” The crowd lightly reacts to that.

Rollins congratulates Reigns on winning a match. Rollins says there seems to be some common denominator between Orton and Reigns. They both lost to him. Rollins says neither of them deserves an opportunity at his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Kane clears his throat and says both men made compelling arguments. Kane says he’ll do what’s best for business. The two of them will set aside their differences and show Roman Reigns and Randy Orton the real power of The Authority. Kane says regarding Rollins’ opponent at Payback, he’ll let the WWE Universe decide that. Rollins argues with Kane as his music hits.

Coming up next, we’ll see Dolph Ziggler take on Bad News Barrett in the King of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinals.

Tonight’s main event will see Randy Orton and Roman Reigns team up to face Seth Rollins and Kane. The new WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day, are clapping backstage. They’ll be in action, next.

Winner by Pinfall: Big E
Match Rating: 1/2 *

The New Day quickly runs off and celebrates their victory. Booker T pretends like he didn’t see it so he’s the one on the side of The New Day now.

Still photos are shown of the Russian Chain Match between John Cena and Rusev last night. They show Rusev kicking Lana out of the ringside area for posing for the crowd. Cena beat Rusev in that match. Rusev then had Lana get Cena in an “I Quit” match for WWE Payback. John Cena will host an open challenge with the WWE United States Championship on the line later tonight.

Ryback’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. Ryback is in action, next.

-Commercial Break-

Bo Dallas will be Ryback’s opponent. Dallas says Ryback’s actions at Extreme Rules were reprehensible. Tonight, he’ll give Ryback the chance to clear his name in front of these disgusting cheeseheads. He’ll give him an opportunity to walk away. A “Go Pack go!” chant breaks out. Dallas says all Ryback had to do was Bolieve.

Ryback vs. Bo Dallas

They lock up, and Ryback powers him down. Ryback sends him into the ropes, misses a clothesline, and hits a back elbow. Ryback smothers him in the corner until the referee backs him up. Dallas kicks him in the knee before clotheslining him in the back of the head. Dallas puts the apron over him and clubs away at him. Ryback sets up in the corner and flattens him with a Meat Hook Clothesline. Ryback then annihilates him with Shell Shocked for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Ryback
Match Rating: 1/2 *

Bray Wyatt’s video flashes on the screen, and the lights go out. When the come back on, Bray Wyatt is in the ring behind Ryback. Ryback slowly turns around, and Wyatt gives him Sister Abigail. Wyatt does the crabwalk and hovers over him before kneeling next to him and extending his arms.

John Cena’s open challenge for the WWE United States Championship is next.

-Commercial Break-

John Cena makes his way to the ring to his usual mixed reception. Cena says he doesn’t know why they’d miss it, but in case they missed Extreme Rules live on the WWE Network last night, The Champ is here! Cena would love to talk about how brutal the Russian Chain Match was last night, but he didn’t have time to catch his breath when he saw Rusev barking orders at Lana with a crazy plan. Ten minutes later, she walked out of the office with another rematch. Cena says he’ll give Rusev the respect he deserves. Rusev keeps his pimp hand strong. Cena says he’s kidding. Cena respects Rusev because he refuses to quit, but that’s until Payback. Cena says, “Be careful what you wish for, Rusev, because our match at Payback is an ‘I Quit’ match.” Cena says a man like Rusev will never make him quit on American soil for the United States Championship. Cena says he’ll defend the championship no matter what the cost may be. Cena says he’ll never surrender. Payback will be the final chapter between him and Rusev. If Rusev can make him say “I Quit,” then he’ll have disgraced all proud Americans, this nation, and the United States Championship. In no way will he deserve a rematch. If Rusev wins the United States Championship at Payback, you’ll never see him again.

It sounds simple, but there’s a statue outside of Vince Lombardi. Lombardi once said, “The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.” Ever since he’s won this championship, he’s worked hard to make it the symbol of excellence and opportunity. Tonight, while Rusev chooses to rest, he chooses to provide opportunity. Everyone knows that Green Bay is the place to be tonight. Cena says he is the man to beat, so the John Cena US Open Challenge starts now. Cena says, “You want some? Come get some!”

Heath Slater answers the challenge. Slater comes out with a microphone shouting, “Wait a minute!” Not only will he take advantage of a crushed John Cena, but he’s about to become the new United States Champion of the world. He’ll start his own “Discount Slater Check,” which is kind of like the “Discount Double Check” but with someone much better looking than Aaron Rodgers. Slater says, “Johnny Boy – Randy Orton isn’t here…” Rusev attacks him from behind and superkicks him off the stage. Lana joins him on stage to a huge pop, and she poses for the crowd. Rusev barks at her and sends her off to the back. A loud “We want Lana” chant breaks out. Rusev shouts at the crowd in his native tongue. Rusev says these people are all quitters. They have given up already. They quit on their dreams a long time ago and quit on themselves. At Payback, Cena will be like the stupid Americans. They will not be saying, “God Bless America.” They’ll be saying, “I quit!” The flag of the Russian Federation unfurls above the ring as Rusev’s music plays. Cena stares at Rusev as he celebrates on the stage.

Kane is pacing in the office when Seth Rollins walks in. Rollins says he’s not mad and wants clarification about what Kane said about his title defense at Payback. Kane begins to talk, but Rollins cuts him off. Rollins says he beat Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and then beat Randy Orton at Extreme Rules. They don’t deserve a shot at his title. Rollins asks if Kane is out of his mind. Rollins wonders if Kane is too stupid to care about what Triple H and Stephanie McMahon will think when they find out. Kane says Rollins likes to carry himself around here like he’s the man. Kane figured letting the WWE Universe pick his opponent would be something Rollins could handle. If Rollins is going to threaten to be a tattle tail and insult his intelligence, then he’ll add a third option. Kane says the WWE Universe can vote on the WWE App if Rollins will face Roman Reigns or Randy Orton or Roman Reigns AND Randy Orton. Kane says they’ll find out whom he’ll face after their match!

Winner by Pinfall: Adam Rose
Match Rating: 1/2 *

Now she found someone to treat her like the sweet flower that she is. Rosa and Rose kiss in the ring. Rose falls down and Rose lies on top of him.

The commentators talk about the health of Daniel Bryan. Michael Cole says Bryan was pulled from Extreme Rules last night because he’s not medically cleared to compete. Bryan is not at RAW tonight. Renee Young is backstage with Bryan’s wife, Brie Bella. Renee says Brie has had an emotional 24 hours. Her sister retained her Divas Championship, but her husband was not medically cleared to compete at Extreme Rules. Renee asks when Bryan will get back in the ring. Damien Sandow addresses his loss to The Miz last week

Damien Sandow is in the ring in a plain black t-shirt. Sandow gets a nice hand. Sandow says, “Allow me to beg your indulgence for one moment. My name is Damien SANDOW, and one thing I am never going to do is come out here and lie to you. Three years ago I came to the WWE in a blue bathrobe and the idea that I was going to enlighten everybody. Needless to say, we all know how that one ended. After that, I was actually told to my face that I was not entertaining enough. You said it, not me. What followed, some people think that he was losing his mind, but it was actually a quest to entertain. You may remember Bret “The Hitman” Sandow. Then there’s what I like to call the Magneto incident. Then there was the time I showed you all my ill skill on the real as LeBron James. Then, of course, who could forget WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon? And then came Damien Mizdow. Again, I said I’m going to be honest with you: Mizdow caused me to lose a lot of respect with my peers, but I gained something that means much more to me than that. I gained the respect of the WWE Universe. And that connection that we have is the most valuable thing as a WWE Superstar I could personally ever have. Thank you.” The crowd gives him a nice hand. Axel asks him to stop it, and Sandow continues to imitate him. The crowd is getting some good chuckles out of this. Axel asks if Sandow thinks this funny, and Sandow again imitates him. A “YES” chant fires up. Axel goes to the ropes and holds them open. Axel says, “Get out of the Axman’s ring now!” Sandow poses as if he’s holding the ropes and imitates the line. I know what drives you. I know what motivates you, and I know what scares you. What you witnessed tonight was only the beginning. Open your eyes, friend. Run!”
