For the last six and a half years of my life, recapping wrestling on Friday nights has been a constant. Finally at long last I can say this is the last Friday night I have to recap because Smackdown is finally going back to Thursday night!

“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

A video recaps the events from this past Monday’s RAW. Triple H added Seth Rollins to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at the Royal Rumble in appreciation for him getting The Authority back on the show. The Authority then declared it to be “John Cena Appreciation Night.” They then took that as an opportunity to fire Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, and Ryback in appreciation of Cena’s efforts to get rid of them at Survivor Series.

The show opens up with some pyrotechnics, and we’re welcomed to the show by Tom Philips, Michael Cole, and JBL.

Seth Rollins comes out to gloat about The Authority’s actions

Seth Rollins makes his way out to the ring to big heat from the crowd. Rollins walks down to the ring smiling with J&J Security. Rollins stands in the ring as a “You Sold Out” chant breaks out. Rollins says he is feeling good tonight. Rollins asks if the crowd saw the look on John Cena’s face at the end of RAW. Rollins says he loved it so much that he needs to see it again. Cena’s dumbfounded expression is shown on the titantron. Rollins laughs and says that’s the look of a man who knows he’s been had. Rollins manipulated Cena into doing something that he swore up and down he would never do. Rollins says he singlehandedly manipulated Cena into bringing back The Authority. With The Authority back in power, that’s on Cena’s head. The other thing on his head is the fact that three of his friends that trusted him with their careers are no longer employed by this company. On Monday, they were fired. Those three men were Erick Rowan, Ryback, and Dolph Ziggler. Rollins says everyone owes Cena a debt of gratitude because happy days are here again. The Authority is back in power, and he is in the main event of the Royal Rumble! Rollins says the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match will now be a triple threat. John Cena versus Brock Lesnar versus him. The crowd boos this.

Rollins says the people like to say that The Authority’s actions are vindictive. Rollins thinks they’re justified. For the sake of everyone to not think he’s a bad guy, he would like to take this time to ask for ten seconds of silence so everyone can acknowledge the lackluster careers of Erick Rowan, Ryback, and Dolph Ziggler. Rollins then asks everyone to bow their heads while the bell tolls ten times. Rollins and J&J Security bow their heads while the bell tolls.

Roman Reigns’ music then hits in the middle of it, and he makes his way to the ring through the crowd. Reigns gets in the ring, and Rollins says, “It’s good to see you again, ‘brother.’” Reigns says he didn’t mean to interrupt… actually he’s not sorry. Reigns says Rollins is just so full of himself now. Reigns then says he’s full of something else. Rollins is a sniveling little suck-up of suffering succotash. Reigns says Rollins has “donkey dung” for brains. What he’s trying to say is he’s going to kick Rollins’ ass. Reigns punches Rollins in the face before taking out J&J Security. Reigns then punches Rollins over the top rope. Rollins quickly retreats up the ramp with J&J Security. Big Show comes out and joins Rollins at the top of the stage. Big Show stares at Reigns, and then Corporate Kane walks out. Kane says Reigns has an expression, “One versus all.” Kane wants to put that to the test tonight. It’ll be Reigns taking on Seth Rollins and The Big Show, unless Reigns can find a tag team partner. If anyone joins with Reigns, they would lose the favor of The Authority. Kane wishes him luck before saying he’ll need more than that and laughing.

Big Show says Reigns wants to compare his Superman Punch to his giant fist. This fist is going to knock Reigns out. If Reigns can find a partner, he’ll knock him out as well. If the crowd doesn’t like it, he’ll knock each and every one of them out. Big Show says Reigns woke up a sleeping tiger. What’s even worse is he’s riled the ire of a 7-foot, 450-pound giant. The fact of the matter is Reigns is screwed!

Later tonight, we’ll see The Usos defend the WWE Tag Team Championships against The Miz and Damien Sandow as well as Gold and Stardust. The New Day is seen backstage. Big E will be in action, next.

-Commercial Break-

Kane is talking on his cell phone about how he has everything under control. The Miz and Damien Sandow walk in. Miz congratulates Kane on The Authority being back. Miz says he gets that The Authority wants Seth Rollins to have his own spotlight, just like he should have his own spotlight. To be fair, they should face The Usos in a straight up match. Kane says that does sound fair. Miz asks for Mizdow to give him water, and it splashes all over Kane. Kane says life isn’t fair, and he can thank his partner because the triple threat is still on.

Adam Rose w/ Cesaro and Tyson Kidd vs. Big E w/ The New Day

Replays are shown of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd attacking The New Day after pretending to be Rosebuds. The bell rings, and Big E punches him to the corner before sending him to the opposite corner and hitting a running shoulder thrust. Big E punches him before avoiding a clothesline. Rose then connects with a spinebuster for a two count. Rose punches him in the face before dropping a few elbows. Rose sneers at the crowd before dropping another elbow for a one count. Rose applies a chin lock, but Big E powers up and clotheslines him twice. Big E then connects with a belly-to-belly side suplex. Big E catches him with a big splash, and then he sets up for the end. Big E goes for the Big Ending, but Rose slides off. Rose stuns him with a kick to the head before catching him with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Rose screams in frustration before elbowing him. Rose goes for Party Foul, but Big E pushes him off and connects with the Big Ending for the win.

The commentators make mention of the fact that this is the last time Smackdown will air Friday as it is moving to Thursday night next week.

Two local wrestlers vs. The Ascension

Before the match begins, they grab a microphone. Viktor says there have been plenty of dominant tag teams, such as Hawk and Animal, The Road Warriors. Konnor says they couldn’t even carry their shoulder pads. Then there was the Powers of Pain. Konnor says their power would cause them pain. They are The Ascension. Welcome to the Wastelands.

Konnor starts the match out, and he throws the first wrestler down before kicking him. Konnor then dumps him out over the top rope. Viktor tags in, and he clotheslines the man at ringside. Viktor puts him back in the ring and tags in Konnor. Viktor knocks the second partner off the apron. The Ascension then connects with The Fall of Man for the win.

Match Rating: 1/4 *

Byron Saxton is backstage with The Usos. Saxton asks about the ending to RAW. Jimmy Uso says it’s messed up and unfair that Erick Rowan, Ryback, and Dolph Ziggler were fired. Jey Uso says it’s also unfair that they’re defending their titles in a triple threat. It’s ok because they’re Uso-crazy.

-Commercial Break-

Replays are shown of Alicia Fox attacking Naomi backstage on RAW after rubbing it in that she was fired from “Total Divas.”

Alicia Fox vs. Naomi

Naomi cut a pre-taped promo, and she said when Alicia Fox attacked her on RAW, she exposed herself as a psychotic and shady person. She’s taking a page from her husband’s book because she’s going to get Uso-crazy on her.

The bell rings, and Naomi quickly dropkicks her down. Naomi throws her across the ring and slams her head on the mat. Naomi punches her to the corner before whipping her to the opposite side. Naomi splashes her in the corner and hits a snapmare before kicking her in the back. Alicia reverses a whip, but Naomi ducks a clothesline. Alicia then goes a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, but Naomi counters into a pin for a one count. Alicia knees her in the midsection and grunts at her. Naomi quickly hits a monkey flip followed by a hurricanrana. Alicia then catches her with a sloppy roll up with her feet on the ropes for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Alicia Fox
Match Rating: 1/4 *

A clip from Michael Cole’s interview on WWE.com with Triple H is shown. Triple H says Ziggler, Rowan, and Ryback knew the risks. They were the ones in the match at the end. Sure there was Sting, but those guys were the heroes. They won until the guy that talked them into joining in the mutiny turned on them. Cena turned on them and put them back on the chopping block. Cena should have known they’d have been fired. He willingly gave them up. Triple H sarcastically says Cena isn’t a stand-up guy.

-Commercial Break-

Highlights are shown from the Ambulance Match from this past Monday’s RAW. Bray Wyatt defeated Dean Ambrose in a brutal match after giving him Sister Abigail on the floor.

Bray Wyatt is seen pacing backstage. Wyatt says when he first saw him, he thought he was looking at his own deranged reflection. Wyatt thought Dean Ambrose was different, but he was wrong. Ambrose is just like the rest of the people. He’s an insect, trying to climb his way out of a jar. Ambrose found out you can’t hurt a stone and outrun fate. Fate is a pretty girl with a sword in her hand. She’s always watching. As fate closed in on Ambrose, the ambulance door shut. When one journey ends, another must begin. This long and winding road will lead him to a new destination. In three weeks, he’ll arrive at the Royal Rumble. Twenty-nine men will follow him, and twenty-nine men will fall.

The Usos make their entrance followed by Gold and Stardust. The WWE Tag Team Titles will be defended, next.
