Wade Barrett returning to NXT commentary for next week’s for Super Tuesday episode

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion and Nexus faction leader Wade Barrett made his official return to WWE last night as a color commentator for NXT.

Barrett was alongside Vic Joseph at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix helped call the action from her home as she has during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Barrett announced that he will be back at the NXT announce table next week for the Super Tuesday episode next week, due to NXT changing nights for the NHL playoffs on the USA Network.

We had reported earlier this week that Barrett would returning for one night to fill in for Mauro Ranallo, who has been dealing with a family situation in Canada. NXT taped two episodes of television last night.

Last night was Wade’s first WWE appearance since his departure from May 2016.

Following his departure from WWE, Barrett focused mainly on acting. He made his return to professional wrestling last December for the National Wrestling Alliance as a color commentator, going by his real name Stu Bennett.  He replaced Jim Cornette who resigned from the company following an inappropriate comment made during an episode of Powerrr.

WWE posted a video (above) with Barrett settling into the announce table with Vic Joseph during last night’s episode of WWE NXT.
