WWE moves to dismiss MLW’s amended antitrust complaint

In a story first reported by Wrestlenomics, WWE filed a motion on Friday to dismiss the amended complaint by MLW, in a lawsuit ongoing since January 2022.

Essentially, the motion by WWE argues that MLW has still “failed to allege antitrust claims for monopolization or attempted monopolization” under conditions defined by the law.

Among other points argued through the motion, WWE claims that AEW’s expanded media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery and Women of Wrestling’s rights sold to CBS Media Ventures shows that producers of pro wrestling outside of WWE can thrive in the market.

In addition, WWE denied claims that talent who worked for MLW were blacklisted from WWE, citing the hiring of Davey Boy Smith Jr., Matt Riddle, and Karrion Kross (FKA Killer Kross).

More information on WWE’s claims stated in the motion can be found in the full Wrestlenomics article here.
